Acerca de esta escucha

Paul and Rob are at it again—this time, quite literally walking home.

Taking on The Wilberforce Way, a trail running from York to Hull in honor of anti-slavery legend William Wilberforce, our intrepid (and slightly clueless) adventurers set off, blissfully unaware of the ridiculousness that awaits them.

Kicking things off in York, they immediately stumble upon a famous piece of poo (yes, really), before learning some deeply unsettling facts about moles—namely, that they don’t taste great but will absolutely trip you up. Pocklington, it turns out, is home to madmen, top-secret history, and a baffling connection to Beverley, while Vikings and bloody battlefields provide plenty of "wow" moments (alongside a few "why did I agree to this?" ones).

As the elements rage against them (because of course they do), the lads soldier on—one blistered step at a time—encountering suicidal Batmen in Pocklington, runaway nuns in Beverley, and more unexpected nonsense than they ever signed up for.

And then there’s Hullpossibly England’s most underestimated little city, packed with more history than you can shake a walking stick at.

Told in Paul’s usual dry, self-deprecating style, this is a journey filled with history, hilarity, and a complete disregard for dignity. Whether you’re laughing with them or at them, they don’t care—as long as you’re laughing.

Read on to find out more—because let’s be honest, you can’t resist finding out why a batman was suicidal and what’s so special about that poo.

Paul was born and raised in Hull, Yorkshire—a place so magnificent it took him years of globe-trotting to realize he should’ve just stayed put. After visiting some of the world’s most exotic locations, he finally had an epiphany: nowhere beats the weird and wonderful charm of England. Now, he spends as much time as possible trudging around the country, uncovering its bizarre and fascinating history, and encountering a delightful mix of interesting, eccentric, and occasionally downright questionable people.

Paul has completed many long distance footpaths throughout the UK, and his previous adventures include Hadrian's Wall Path: A Walk Through History, Rambling On: Lost on the Cleveland Way, Coast to Coast: Finding Wainwright's England, and many more besides. It should be noted that he does spend most of his time lost.
