Acerca de esta escucha

Of Friendship and Forgiveness is a sweet, clean, low angst Pride and Prejudice variation of 62,000 words written from a Christian perspective.
Excerpt:
Elizabeth lay back onto the grass allowing the sun to warm her face and the breeze to tousle her hair. The gloriously vivid blue sky was reflected perfectly in the still end of the loch while the waterfall at the other end sent a cooling mist into the air. Perfect. This was a perfectly lovely day in a perfectly lovely place. She thought about the series of events that had brought her here to this remote estate in Scotland, alone except for her lady’s maid and the nominal staff of the manor house. It had begun with friendship. Friendship with Fitzwilliam Darcy. A friendship that deteriorated into betrayal and deep resentment and then into his abandonment when she most needed support. But…forgiveness. The forgiveness the Lord had commanded of his followers. The forgiveness she had to decide to give – without feeling it. “Decide to forgive,” her aunt had told her, “the feeling will come later – or not.” She picked up her black bonnet and tied it in place before mounting little David, the Highlands Pony she would ride back to the estate and continue her sojourn there as Mrs. MacCumbers, devastated widow.

Great Story, Virtual Voice?

The story is great. Virtual voice does not and cannot give the inflection and accent that a good narrator can.

No honor in Darcy’s character.

There was so much potential here! However, Darcy would never have abandoned a woman under his protection. The last fourth of this story destroys most of the build up to the reunion of Darcy and Elizabeth.

Darcy is a snob

In this story I don’t think I could ever fully depend on Mr. Darcy. Unless she married him for food, shelter, clothing-security, that is, there will never be any real trust. He discounted her and dismissed her as unworthy as a potential wife and abandoned her leaving her to fend for herself at a time when her demise was all due to him and his crazy aunt pulling an unforgivable stunt. Why wasn’t she threatened with slander and run out of town? The paper should have been threatened too. Darcy left the clean up to others while he stayed silent and left London which only made the whole story seem true. That’s cold. I don’t see how she could get past that and I don’t think he would ever be completely satisfied or comfortable with her being “less than” no matter how much he wants her. Why he did nothing to silence Lady Catherine is beyond comprehension. She is no one to worry about her feelings above his own or Elizabeth’s . LC is a liar and mean selfish person and a horrible mother. If she loved her relatives she wouldn’t be trying to hurt them at any cost. This story bothered me. Her parents are horrid, Darcy is a heartless wimp. Otherwise, the writing is very good. VV is VV, not as good as a talented voice actor but still thankful to experience new to me authors offered in plus catalog.
