Beautiful Writing

Beautifully written, love the way the music developed the love story. Narration matched the characters, well done.

God I love this book, this audio, just everything.

This book is just so good. I’m reminded of that every time I read or listen to it. The tension is written SO WELL. I’m not sure if it’s because I grew up playing music, but the scenes where they communicate through music, omg. I die. Those scenes make my heart absolutely THROB.

My only wish is that I wish I had more of Alex’s POV, but it’s really okay that we don’t. His chapters are really impactful.

I also just have to say, the way anxiety is written in this book is really heart wrenching.. coming from someone who suffers from extreme anxiety. I get so frustrated at certain parts, but then totally relate to them at the same time. It felt so real in that way.

I just adore this book. I come back to it kind of often because I love the way the romance is written. Highly recommend.

Genius

This story is pure genius. The way Julie Soto weaves in such emotion with music you can almost hear is truly inspiring. The feelings you experience as you listen to her descriptions of the music and every interaction between Alex and Gwen are tangible. This story played out like a movie in my head with not a hole to be found. I’m not a fan of listening to stories read in third person past, but still… I loved it. Looking forward to more from Julie Soto.

Read in one day!

I absolutely adored this book! The pacing is a huge plus. The push and pull between the two main characters, love story, and musical theme throughout made it such a unique story that I won’t forget! Highly recommend.

Julie Soto strikes again!

After falling in love with Soto’s writing style in Forget me Not, I've been anxiously awaiting another book and it did not disappoint!! I was immersed on the story from the beginning and as an artist and former orchestra kid, the passion for music shown by these characters made my heart sing. Soto captured the way music can show emotion and encourage deep connection between people, and the theme of it throughout the book contributed to capturing Alex and Gwen’s relationship in a way it couldn’t without it. I adore the characters, the cameos of Ama and Elliot, and the depiction of how the music industry is complex and the importance of copyright. The friendships depicted in the book warmed my heart and made me laugh. I enjoyed the display of healthy and playful relationships and chosen families. Thank you for another incredible book I’ll be rereading over and over! Can’t wait for the next one :)

Loved it. Even better than Julie Soto’s first book in my opinion. Beautiful love story and wonderfully told with a an interesting backdrop of music, musicians, and the symphony.

Great Chemistry!

Be aware that Not Another Love Story is written in 3rd person. Told through Gwen’s POV with 6 chapters in Xander’s POV. Gwen and Xander are both child musical prodigies except that Gwen was an orphan and Xander had a famous violinist for a mom. Gwen wanted a place and Xander wanted fame and to be seen as a musician in his own right, not his mother’s son. However, both were being played by other people. The chemistry was intense between Xander and Gwen, and their dynamic as they played together and their relationship was gorgeously written. The character growth was well done, but I did have to suspend some of disbelief because first chair isn’t handed out like the way it showed in this book. Not even for publicity. Also, Xander came off rude at the beginning, but did grow into a good hero. Julie Soto wrote a good book!

What a great story. Loved the relationship between all of the characters. It had it all.

Best of the best

The character development, the storyline, the dialogue, the steamy parts… everything was literally perfect. I started reading around 6pm, went to sleep at some point, then picked it back up the moment I opened my eyes. If you want something that is going to have you by the collar until you’re through, this is it. This is a meticulously crafted story, it’s clear how much work went into to get it JUST right. I am utterly in love and will read this book again and again, which is rare for me. BRAVA!
