all around good, but retarded

Bandicate, the main character, is seriously cognitively impared and degenerate. I'm surprised such comes from the same creative awesomeness the better parts of the story come from. Charly, the alien, is pretty awesome. Bandy turns into something story worthy only because of Charly. At one of a few moments of wasted 30 minutes I had to change to another book.

I chose this book because it was "included " as part of my Audible subscription and I'm a hopless Sci-fi addict. What a fortuitous occurrence!! I can't believe I didn't know that this gem existed. A great story. I was completely engaged and positively engrossed from the start. A wonderful performance kept my full attention right through to the end, which seemed to come before I knew it and left me hungering for more! Having been thoroughly impressed and entertained by this included first volume, I am immediately compelled to purchase the second volume of this amazingly satisfying Sci-fi trilogy. Positively, whole-heartedly recommended!

Imaginative space journey, outstanding narrator

First, the narrator, Stefan Rudnicki, was about perfect. He made the story and its characters come to life. The story itself was full of unexpected twists, which made it compelling. The overall arc of the plot was more predictable than I would have liked, but no more than so than many other good books. However, this first volume of the series was not truly stand-alone. The heart of the plot was tied up at the end, but I thought it was overshadowed by the cliffhanger at the very end. I can’t decide whether to spend a credit on the second installment, which is likely to be a cliffhanger as well.

An excellent choice for a narrator from a fan

I have absolutely loved the Chaos Chronicles since I found it some 10?+ years ago in my local Barnes and Noble and even after reading it I'm sure a dozen or so times by now listening to the story now still has me pulled tight into the story of John and Charlie and I don't want to stop listening. Please continue to make the rest of the series into audio-books! Fans of this series would love to see more of this. I especially liked all of the added sound effects brought in during the neuro-link scenes and such it really pulled me more into the story and Stefan, while I wasn't sure if I liked him at first has won me over as narrator for this series.

interesting but the devoid of action or suspense.

A sleepy tale with a main character who's a bit whiny. The unseen alien is hard to embrace. Despite some shortcomings I enjoyed the book, it reminded me a little of 2001 A Space Odyssey.

hard to explain

The idea was decent, but the details were bad, and author was flat and boring.

A little wordy but still a great story!

In the beginning I was a little put off by all the internal conversations the main character was having with himself and then with Charlie, but eventually I got used to it and the struggles they both had to endure to learn about each other and save the world.

The journey was am interesting one but I still have a hard time understanding why the author chose to make John endure some of the things he did. I cant say much without spoiling but my heart went out to John in the end! Wish he didn't have to be as strong as he was!

Charlie was a little annoying but it was understandable considering his origin.

I wish the other characters had a stronger role. I feel they were well done and not used as much as they could have been.

But still I was excited listening to the story and hearing the main characters grow and work towards their goal. just wish it wasn't so wordy. some of the conversations were unnecessary.

Narrator was great!

Great story and absolute outstanding narration.

One thing I will guarantee you wil love this book. The narrative out shines Rodnicki's Ender series which was excellent. plot is original and character truly come alive. I highly recommend this book

Not quite what I expected.

It's a good story if you can get past the immature use of made up words in place of actually using adult language. God Damnit is ok but Fucking Hell/Shit isn't? Political correctness is a poor excuse for literary license.
