Acerca de esta escucha

In Agatha Christie’s baffling detective story, Nemesis, a letter from a dead man instructs Miss Marple how to conduct an investigation into a puzzlingly unspecific crime.

In utter disbelief, Miss Marple read the letter addressed to her from the recently deceased Mr. Rafiel—an acquaintance she had met briefly on her travels. He had left instructions for her to investigate a crime after his death. The only problem was, he had failed to tell her who was involved or where and when the crime had been committed. It was most intriguing.

Soon she is faced with a new crime—the ultimate crime—murder. It seems someone is adamant that past evils remained buried. . . .

Emilia Fox did a brilliant job performing/reading this book. I love Agatha Christie novels, and Miss Marple ones are usually great for a "cozy mystery." The usual twists and surprises are there. Loved it!

Well-read, relaxing Miss Marple Mystery

The narration here is excellent. Ms.Fix gives each of the characters a distinctive voice, and is able to remain consistent through the rather long story.
However, this is sadly not one of Christie’s best works. The story, characters, and plot twists are solid, but the writing is painfully repetitive. She over- explains and re-explains various plot points in a way that becomes incredibly irritating. An editor could have aired this down by about a quarter and made something really great.

The story is vintage Miss Marple, kind of like listening to Garrison Keillor on Prairie Home Companion, as it seems to wander around, but is always going somewhere; of course with Miss Marple it is going to find evil. One of the best Miss Marple stories for sure!! The reader does a good job and does a number of different voices and regional accents of the UK, most of which are good but some are not so great. Overall, the Audible book is certainly worth listening to, I recommend it.

The last Miss Marple

One of my favorite books. Great production and narrator. I’ve heard her work on other books and always enjoy her.

Love it!

The story is more contrived and convoluted than usual — but kept my interest throughout. Reading the mystery written before it — A Caribbean Mystery — will help you enjoy and understand this once. Many allusions to that mystery and those involved are made in this one.

This late novel has an elegiac tone in places — quite different from the usual gossip in the village tone we know and love.

I have often read criticisms of Emilia Fox’s reading and I have found fault with her American accent. But she captures Miss Marple’s gentle voice and the hard Intelligence and perception below it just perfectly.

Emilia Fox is Miss Marple Personified

I prefer Poirot mysteries but occasionally toss in a Miss Marple for a change.

For the most part, it typically feels like Miss Marple sits and observes and then pronounces but in this particular story she is up front and center and actively involved - and she has no idea even what she is supposed to be investigating, let alone who! This sort of gives the reader a sense of "we are in this together" as the story unfolds. Highly recommend.

Most Excellent!

... gives this character both a memorable story and a wonderful send off. As always the Queen of Crime gives us a rich and delightful novel in one.

The final Miss Jane Marple mystery...

This has to be the best Miss Marple mystery! And the audiobook is nice and long, revealing details at a pace the listener could keep up with.

I loved every minute!

Superb!

A rare continuance of another Agatha mystery involving Raphael who reminded me of a rude marple herself in the Caribbean mystery. The premise of this story was very unique making marple herself guess all the way through but once it settles it was straightforward. Amelia has grown on me as the narrator and her marple impressions are fairly good

Interesting premise predictable murderer
