Acerca de esta escucha

"It's the most wonderful time of the year," the old song tells us. But that doesn't mean the people celebrating it are always so nice. Criminals get the Christmas spirit, too! In this collection of hilarious short stories, you'll see what the thieves, killers, psychos and scumbags are up to come the holidays...and it's not caroling door to door. Well, not unless they're casing the neighborhood for a break-in, as a rag-tag gang does in the title story. You'll also meet a mall elf menaced by a very, very bad Santa (in "I Killed Santa Claus"), a London police inspector hunting for the man who murdered Ebenezer Scrooge (in "Humbug"), a trucker out to save his shipment of Cabbage Patch Dolls from bumbling hijackers (in "Special Delivery") and many more characters you'll never forget.

Originally published in Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine and Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine, these nine tales from award-winning short story master Steve Hockensmith (Holmes on the Range, Dreadfully Ever After) are sure to have you ho-ho-hoing from the first page to the last.

Audbile glitch has been fixed!

I have loved the “Holmes on the Range” series by this author, so I thought I’d give this Short Story Collection a try. I’m glad I did.

Great stories, and very good narration as well.

And the little Audible burp reported by a previous reviewer (with the ending of the second story) has been fixed.

Now, I’m looking forward to this author’s “Double-A Western Detective Agency” books coming out in just a few weeks!

Christmas Story Perfection!

I loved the wide variety of characters of each of the stories. With most short story collections I've read there's usually one or two not so great ones but there were none in this. Each was equally witty and has the signature Hockensmith humor that makes his stories and novels so delightful. I will add this book to my new annual Christmas story reading tradition.

Great short story compilation

I thoroughly enjoy Steve’s short stories and this holiday compilation did not disappoint! They are quite clever and charming. This will be on my annual xmas listen list.

Great stories full of fun and mayhem

I enjoyed the stories full of Steve Hockensmith's usual brand of humor, crime, and mayhem. They were good stories, and the reader was pretty good, too.

However, if the total running time of the book still reads 7 hours and 46 minutes, then the second story is still missing it's end. I don't think that the story should last much longer, but there is a fault in the book file. I have reported this to Audible, so hopefully this will get fixed soon. The story that is missing it's last few minutes is "I Killed Santa Claus". That is the 4th track, or "Chapter 2".

As a fan of Steve Hockensmith's writing, I really do recommend this book. It's a lot of fun, despite missing the end of that track.

NOTE: Thanks to Audible for fixing the 4th track (chapter 2). It now has an end!!!
