He overthrew France's corrupt republican government in a coup, then asserted near dictatorial powers. He would later convince the Senate to proclaim him France's emperor and even get the pope to preside over his coronation; reorganize swaths of Europe into new states; and place his brothers and sisters on the thrones.

Title is deceiving but still a good read
I thought when I started this book that it was going to be sort of a business/management book, showing how Napoleon's leadership style could be applied to business. Well, not really. It's pretty much a straight forward bio of Napoleon and his era, with emphasis on the military side. It does go into quite a bit of detail which I liked, as I'm a Napoleon buff and have read over 100 books on him. I'm also a small business owner so I like to read about great leaders in all fields but especially business and military leaders. The author, who is a history professor at Saint John's U has done impeccable research and I even learned a few things after years of studying Napoleon. He does a really great job summing up his accomplishments and failures in the last chapter and gives a balanced view of the Great Man. A better title might have been Napoleon and the Uses (and Misuses) of Power. I am going to check out some of Nester's other works now. The narrator was also very good. Recommended!
