Acerca de esta escucha
Seven years ago, this blockbuster skyrocketed Kathleen Darcy to instant fame. Now, the author's heirs are looking for a writer to pen the sequel. It's an opportunity no novelist in her right mind would pass up, and there's no doubting Jacqueline's sanity...until she starts digging through the missing woman's papers - and her past. Until she gets mixed up with Kathleen's enigmatic lover. Until a series of nasty accidents convince her much too late that someone wants to bring Jacqueline's story - and her life - to a premature end.

Historia
Amelia Peabody embarks on her first Egyptian adventure armed with unshakable self-confidence, a journal for her thoughts, and, of course, a sturdy umbrella. On her way, she rescues Evelyn Barton-Forbes, who has been "ruined" and abandoned on the streets of Rome by her lover. With a typical disregard for convention, Amelia promptly hires her fellow countrywoman as a companion and takes her to Cairo, where strange visitations and a botched kidnapping convince Amelia that there is a plot afoot to harm Evelyn.

There’s a literary niche for all tastes including those who think that either Agatha Christie wasn’t funny enough or that PG Wodehouse didn’t feature anywhere near as many baffling murders as he could have. The Case of the Canterfell Codicil is a classic, cozy, locked-room mystery written in the style of an homage to PG Wodehouse.

So when pompous, pious Reverend Josiah Holworthy publicly condemns him for debauchery, Wrexford unsheathes his rapier-sharp wit and strikes back. As their war of words escalates, London's most popular satirical cartoonist, A. J. Quill, skewers them both.

Great series
I love this Amelia Peabody series. The heroine is a feisty woman based in the late 1800's early 1900's. I have always been interested in Egyptology and this is a wonderful mystery series set in this context. Early feminine Activist. Great humor and character development.

This is the second book I've read by Elizabeth Peters. I have loved both of the books. Grace Conklin was the perfect narrator for this story. I will watch for her narration in other books.

A pleasant Read
When I first started listening to Elizabeth Peter's books I thought there was way too much detail but as I have listened to more and more of her books, I realize the detail is what hooks you and keeps you feeling like part of the adventure. This was my first Kirby mystery but I know I will be listening to them all before long. The character is engaging, a little sassy and very likable. I would recommend this book and suggest listening to the series to fully enjoy the authors ability to tie the stories together.

Excellent mystery
These books written by Elizabeth Peters gives us strong women who reflect to the world exactly who they are. I love that her dialogue talks up to us and never down. Figuring out who done it wasn't the big surprise but left us with a jaw drop revelation.

Just as I get interested in these Plus titles, something stalls and I can hear no more. I have tried restarting numerous times and ways, but the problem persists with this and other books. Very disappointing.

Not as well done as previous Kirby's
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
No
What didn’t you like about Grace Conlin’s performance?
Previously the performance diferentiated between characters far better than this. I felt as if Ms. Conlin was just reading me a story ... not acting a story.
