Acerca de esta escucha

Sabine Giroux and her allies continue to seek out what threatens the gods of death. Her path leads into conflict with deadly foes, both on the land above, and in the depths of the seas. But with every foe she faces, Sabines undead strength grows as she gains the favor of the god she serves.

Sabine will need all the strength she can gather as she faces not only what threatens the gods, but also the deadly politics of the Golgotian city of Tarasan. From the mansions of the elite to the bloody sands of the arena, Sabine must fight with every ounce of strength and cunning that she possesses.

To find victory, Sabine must return to what she knows. She must bring together the castoffs, the condemned, and the disgraced from the city of Tarasan. She must gather them and train them as she had trained so many others in her former life as a mercenary captain.

Sabine will transform her new band into something greater. In the heat of battle, they will become Reforged.

Honestly a full blown upgrade over the first book!

I really enjoyed the first book but this sequel felt like tangible upgrade over the first in terms of action and combat! The upgrades felt very creative and were easily my favorite part of the book series (The reckoning part was super well done!) I think a hard part about game style books like these is making the character cool, strong, but still able to be challenged, yet Dean Henegar did it wonderfully! I really enjoyed the various characters getting introduced, which definitely led to the ending of this one being a bit bittersweet but a great point to start off on as I head into the 3rd book from this series.
The Peformance gets a 4/5 because my only gripe really is that wish Sabine, the main character, sounded a bit cooler. Which might not be a reasonable complaint. The verminkin, Skrix, Hamish the advisor, and Oren the scholar guy, as well as really any character in the book was distinct and I was never confused about who was talking. Which is really important in a audible so Tess is honestly a solid narrator and I was happy to see the voices were the same from the first book!
