PG wonderful, narrator good, production meh

PG Wodehouse amazing and so funny, as always. The narration was also very good.

But.... the first 3 stories of "My Man Jeeves" are *exactly* the same as in "Carry On, Jeeves", by the same production company. The others feature a character named Reggie, rather than Bertie and Jeeves. The fourth story in the collection was an exact story in "Carry On, Jeeves", but with Reggie substituted for Bertie. Disappointing. I listened to all the Jeeves recordings I could find years ago and don't remember the repetition between these two collections.

Outstanding reading

While the books are great, especially Right Ho, Jeeves, I'm leaving this review because of the absolutely brilliant performance by Kevin Theis. I would love if he read some more of them (although the other reader I've heard, Martin Jarvis, is also good).

The Absolute Best !

I have read these classic books before and I knew I would enjoy them but narrator Kevin Theis did an absolutely fabulous job with this set. He brought the characters to life, so much fun! Will listen to this one over and over again. I will be looking for other works he narrates in the future.

Doubly Delightful

Two Wodehouses (Wodehice? Wodehae?) in one. What could be better? Well, three, but let’s not get greedy.

“Right Ho, Jeeves” was released earlier this year as a standalone, and I reviewed it then, so you can pop over there and read … Eh? What say? … Oh, well, if you put it that way … Here ’tis:
The way Gussie feels about newts? (Which, if you don’t know already, you will happily discover before many pages have flown by.) That’s how I feel about Wodehouse, and the Jeeves stories are the cream of the C, the tip of the T, the knees of the B. I’ve read them on paper, seen them on PBS, and heard them by other readers. This version is particularly enjoyable, thanks to narrator Kevin Theis, who is having a contagiously good time. Bertie and Jeeves proved delightful companions on my morning constitutionals, putting an extra bounce in my step and generating yelps of laughter that entertained, or at least puzzled, several handsful of passersby. Sparkling musical bridges could have been better only by being longer. I’ll be coming back to this audiobook whenever my sagging spirits need a lift.

Despite the title, Bertie and Jeeves appear in only half of the “My Man Jeeves” stories. The others feature the meddlesome, well-intentioned self-admitted chump Reggie Pepper, and to my own surprise I liked them even better—especially “Helping Freddie.”

LOL, dontcha know.

Very funny narration by a great comic actor

I am a big fan of Kevin Theis’s work, and this book did not disappoint. He has such a great handle on Wodehouse’s language and timing. Jokes set up and delivered, the relationship between Bertie and Jeeves is delineated perfectly. Bertie's voice and Jeeves' lower, more obsequious tones. (I could hear Jeeves say "Yes, Sir" all day, with Theis laying in a delightful, tiny pause between those two words.) Whether this is your first Wodehouse or you’ve been here or to his books many times before, you will have much to enjoy. A highlight here is Gussy Finknottle's inebriated visit to give away prizes at a local grammar school. After Bertie and Jeeves slip him a little -- actually a lot -- of gin to loosen him up, he's out of his mind from drink, and Theis really delivers the goods, with amazing Foster Brooks-style stumbles. Wodehouse is in his element as Finknottle lays waste to the event and insults all assembled -- terrific stuff!

Fabulous collection

This is the complete novel My Man Jeeves and the collection of short stories Right Ho Jeeves. Both are stellar entertainment and I believe that the narrator, Kevin Theis, has realized his true purpose in life - destined to give voice to these fantastic and hilarious stories. You will find yourself speaking in Edwardian slang! Love these. More, please.

Enjoyable

These books are so much fun to listen to! Love it! Kevin does a fantastic job with the narration!

Wrong book!

I downloaded this title thinking it included only Jeeves & Wooster stories, but starting in Chapter 5 of the audio book it is a different cash of characters entirely - similar but not the same.
