The things you don’t know!

I learned many new things about Henry Ford. The fact he was an environmentalist long before it was popular was surprising. Ford’s perspective on costs and the savings derived were to be used to reduce the price, not increase profit or benefit stockholders. He had a tremendous desire to lead in improving pay, working hours and providing opportunities for employees to grow. Executives today can learn many things by reading and studying this book.

Still true

The book is more a collection of Ford’s thoughts and reflections about a great range of subjects: from wealthy to development. Besides to be a pleasure to read from one of the greatest minds of the last century, the most incredible of this 100 year book is that how updated it still is. Even with examples from 1922, the book stands true for pretty much all the topics. A must read.

Obviously classic material

This is really well done - Ford is both at once a modern and 19th century man. Ford Motor of his day isn’t really what remains today but don’t let that cloud the material. It’s 99 years old - Titanic sank barely 10 years before this book was published. It’s lessons for business in many stages of growth. Ford has some quirks that need to be put in perspective (not the same as excused) so listen/read and listen again

Henry tells all. Full steam ahead!

Henry Ford was amazing. It was great hearing HIStory from HIS perspective. He was so much deeper and complex than let on by other authors.

We have lost learning

Henry Ford knew more about manufacturing and optimisation than experts know 100 years later. This book should be compulsory for all business schools and it is applicable to manufacturing and office plants.

Mind Blowing

Ford lays out a plan for business that might be called by today’s standards social entrepreneurship. He speaks about maximizing production efficiency, wages and standards of living. He also started trade schools for young men that paid them while they learned. He also employed thousands of black men long before it was excepted by anyone else.
