Acerca de esta escucha

From an award-winning journalist, this "grippingly suspenseful true-crime tale details the foiling of a wealthy Texan's plot to have his wife murdered" (Publishers Weekly).

To the world, Linda DeSilva's marriage to Robert Edelman was perfect. He was her college boyfriend turned wealthy and successful husband, and the father of her children. But what friends and family didn't know was that the Texas real estate tycoon who set her up with a luxurious life in Dallas was also her abuser. When she asked him for a divorce, the violence against her only escalated, until the shocking moment she learned her husband had hired an assassin to take her life.

From acclaimed journalist and author Jim Schutze, "My Husband's Trying to Kill Me!" is the riveting true-crime account of how Linda DeSilva worked with the FBI to trap her husband before he could act on his murderous intentions-and how the sting operation nearly got her killed instead. A shocking and sensational story of a wife and mother's escape from the marriage that went from American dream to every woman's worst nightmare.

Contains mature themes.

Free book with only a couple reviews??

I didn’t expect too much from a free book. It’s usually hit and miss but this one was one of the best true crime books I’ve read in a while. Good plot, good narration, and a satisfying ending.

Very Interesting Story

I listened to another by this author, Preacher’s Girl and thought it was very well done. So I listened to this one, and it’s good too, but a little bit annoying because the narrator’s dramatic performance is mostly good but kind of hammy and over-the-top sometimes, especially with the women’s and kids’ voices. Not deal-breakingly bad but distracting. Also, for a great portion of the story the family and friends of the possibly-murdered woman behave so stupidly that one hopes this was just poorly conceived creative license on the author’s part and not accurate, because you hate to imagine folks with so little ability to think critically. (I mean, of course they exist, but still—you know when you watch a scary movie and someone is like “I know I’ve been told by reliable sources that there is a monster in these woods, but I’m going out for a midnight walk because you’re not the boss of me!” And you yell at the screen “don’t be a moron!” It’s like that for about 3-4 hours of the narration.)

Good performance!

A somewhat different way to tell a murder story! Reminded me of the old time radio programs with the different voices, especially for murder mysteries! I do think though. that this particular style tends to make it seem less serious.

Annoying

I don’t know if the writer painted these people to be as dense as they appear to be or if they really were that dense. If you have any common sense take a pass on this one
