The grandfather begins to act irrationally. And a stranger shows up at their door, begging for shelter from the storm.

When Scarlett finds one of the cabin occupants dead, some inconsistencies make her suspect murder. But if that is true, it means the murderer is one of the people trapped in the cabin by the snowstorm.

Can Scarlett convince the others that one of them is a killer? And if she tries but isn’t successful, will the murderer try to silence her? Will the storm ease up and the snowplows arrive before the murderer can strike again?

Murder in the Mountains is Book 7 in A Temp Job Cozy Mystery by
K B Blake. I have enjoyed listening to every book in the series. I think that the author is clever to have Scarlette working temp jobs because it is logical that every book is set totally different. In book 7, Scarlette is hired to work helping Mia, in a full leg cast, and Jerry, her grandfather. A massive snow storm traps everyone and this trip goes downhill with the discovery of a murder. This author writes entertaining stories with great characters. The narration is enjoyable and Amber Battaglia brings this wonderful book to life. I feel this book and series is fantastic.

A mountain retreat & murder

Murder in the Mountains is the 7th book in The Temp Jobs Cozy Mysteries. It is a locked room mystery. Scarlett Chase has a temp job going with a group on a ski trip to take care of teenager Mia who has a broken leg and Jerry, the elderly grandfather. Scarlett's brother Daniel is with his girlfriend Emily and is on the trip. Scarlett's boyfriend Austin is home working. There is a huge snowstorm and they are snowed in. A man comes to the cabin and is lost and cold. There are secrets and someone ends up dead. Scarlett needs to find the culprit before something else happens. It is a mix of adults and kids so there are quite a few people who are suspects (not the little kids at least). It isn't too hard to figure out the culprit. The side plot continues regarding Austin's former friend Nate who is in prison. The warmth and comradery that was evident in the other books isn’t as apparent in this one. It might be better as a stand alone because it is almost all new characters. Overall, it was a good cozy mystery. The audiobook narrated by Amber Battaglia is well done.

Murder in the Mountains is the 7th Temp Jobs Cozy Mystery by KB Blake. In this adventure, Scarlett Chase is a new CNA and is trying out a nursing assistant job. She is spending a week at a mountain cabin taking care of an elderly patriarch and the teenage daughter of one of the vacationing families. Unfortunately, there is a blizzard that snows them in, and a stranger who appears half frozen at their door. Soon, someone is threatened and someone is found dead. With no way to communicate, Scarlett must investigate on her own. This is a great standalone, but also continues the story of Scarlett, her family and friends. There are several overarching story lines that flow through all the books, including why Scarlett is working temp jobs in the first place and her dad’s accident). I still haven’t forgiven her brother, who seems to always come out roses). The narration by Amber Battaglia is fantastic. She brings the characters and story to life. Can’t wait for the next one!
