Acerca de esta escucha

A totally enthralling historical mystery

She looks hardly more than a child, sleeping, her lashes long and thick as they rest against her rounded cheeks. But in the flickering gaslight, she is unnaturally still…

For Inspector Sebastian Bell and nurse Gemma Tate, a night at the theater becomes a deadly spectacle when the two lead actors are found dead on the stage, murdered before a stunned audience. Drawn into a shadowy backstage world, they encounter a cast of suspects, each with desperate secrets to hide…

Sebastian is determined to get justice, and to keep Gemma safe from the dangerous killer circling the cobbled streets of Covent Garden. But she is already too deeply involved, and, in a world where everyone wears a mask, could she have trusted the wrong person…?

Be drawn into a heart-pounding Victorian mystery. With its richly drawn characters and simmering romance, this thrilling tale of murder and redemption is perfect for fans of Andrea Penrose, the Lady Sherlock mysteries and Miss Scarlett and the Duke.

Worth the Wait

This is a marvelous read. The mystery is complex and kept me guessing, and the character development is tantalizingly slow but rewarding. This series gets better with each book, and I cannot wait for the next one.

I love this series and am already looking forward to the next one! I did not see the end coming, the book kept me guessing the whole time. Every element was satisfying. So good!

Good drama bad tradecraft.

I have read all the books in this series. The stories and characters are interesting. To sum them up I would say that the penny dreadful grows up into the dollar dreadful. I am charmed by the bumbling incompetence of the inspector and Gemma. And, if police work was so lacking in method and system in 19th century London, it's no wonder they seldom caught anyone too stupid to frame some poor bum.
