She was courted by a man who proves elusive, having evaded surveillance cameras. He has covered his tracks well. Was this her killer? On top of the pressures of the investigation, Jack Knox must deal with a gremlin in the well-oiled investigative machine: an officer from another force seems set on undermining his authority and upsetting his team. A serviceable police procedural
A nice basic police procedural. Nothing to get too excited about, but moves along at a good clip with a decent plot. I like David Monteath as narrator, so that makes it more enjoyable. The characters are ok, not as developed as I’d prefer them to be, but not flat.
A nice light read. My only real annoyance is our lead male character in a romantic relationship with someone 20 years younger. This seems to be a pattern with male writers of investigative novels. I just roll my eyes and want to scream “get over yourselves & get real!” As if 20 something professional women are regularly running around panting over 40 & 50 something men. Ew.
