Acerca de esta escucha

Munich, 1935. The Bavarian capital is a magnet for young aristocratic Britons who come to learn German, swim in the lakes and drink beer in the cellars.

What they don't see—or choose to ignore—is the brutal underbelly of the Nazi movement, which considers Munich its spiritual home.

When a high-born English girl is murdered, Detective Sebastian Wolff is ordered to solve the crime. Wolff is already walking a tight line between doing his job and falling foul of the political party he abhors. Now Hitler is taking a personal interest in the case.

Followed by the secret police and threatened by his own son, a fervent member of the Hitler Youth, the stakes have never been higher. And when Wolff begins to suspect that the killer might be linked to the highest reaches of the Nazi hierarchy, he fears his task is simply impossible—and that he might become the next victim.

tedious

was presented the book had a good premise but was way too long tedious and would have been better if it was more concise.

great story telling

what life was like in Germany in 1935, with the new Third Reich in control. How even the regular police wre powerless against the state political police

Human touch in times of inhumanity

Well outlined characters, superb narration, en par with the Gereon Rath series by Volker Kutscher

audible version....excellent!

I've always appreciated books about Europe in the 1930's. This book does not fail to impress me. The mood of prewar Nazi Germany is captured, I believe, in a realistic manner. The story line is quite linear, but there are some minor "side stories" that do not detract from the whole work. It's very well written, and the narration by Adam Sims is superb! - I've never heard of Mr.Clements, (the author) or Adam Sims (narrator), but what a refreshing and competent combination! I still find it hard to believe that Sims did all the voices, encompassing all the different emotions, character portrayal, and sublime vocal managements. Bravo!
Even if you don't use the audible version normally, I would heartily recommend it for this book.
Well done, Rory & Adam!

Never have heard of Rory Clements before this audible. But WOW what I’ve been missing.

I loved every thing about the audible.. his characters really came to life good and evil ones I found nothing boring or any point belabored. I must put him in the category of John grisholm jack Higgins,Lucinda Riley Wilbur smith. Some of the literary greats. Don’t forget Lynn Austin . I really do not care for murder mysteries but Mr Clement’s sure changed my mind. Now looking for other audible books by him I would give higher score if it was available. I appreciate no graphic sex scenes and almost no profanity. Mr Clement’s had a great story to tell and didn’t need that fluff and filler. Sign of a great novelists .
