I’m Andy Garrison and I'm one of the best friends of Windy Monroe, formerly Morning. The other one is Nina, who married Chad Murphy just before Thanksgiving. I gotta say, I didn’t see that coming. But I’m happy about it, because I can clearly see how happy Nina is. That’s really all that matters.
Windy married my cousin, Robert. I’m ridiculously happy about that too. They're expecting a baby this summer and that’s the best news ever. I can’t wait to meet my new little cousin, also known as my honorary niece or nephew. Yeah, I’m claiming both titles. Cousin because Robert’s my cousin and uncle because Windy’s basically my sister. That’s how I see her, anyway.
I really am incredibly happy for my two best friends, they’re incredibly special to me and their happiness means everything. Windy and Nina are forever my girls, even though they both have claimed a husband now. I’m not giving them up for no one.
Lucky for me, both Robert and Chad accept that I see them as sisters and don’t feel threatened by me. They really don’t have a single thing to worry about. I really don’t view Windy and Nina any different than my actual sister, Jen.
My heart already belongs to someone else, and that’s a big problem. Why? Well that’s a long story for another time. Let’s just say, I’m waiting. I’m stubbornly waiting for the impossible and hoping for a miracle. They happen, Chad and Nina are proof of that. They both spent years thinking that they could never be together and now they’re married. If it can happen for them, then it can happen for me too.
The thing is, once your heart has been claimed by that one person that is your other half, that one person that makes you whole, that’s it. There’s no going back after that. No one else is ever going to be good enough. Your heart just can’t see anyone else.
Trust me on this, I’ve been in this place for years now. I know what I’m talking about. Time and distance changes nothing. No matter how much time passes or how much distance there is between you, it doesn’t matter one little bit.
She’ll come back, she will. I just need to stay strong and wait it out. I have my girls to keep me company, I’ll be fine. It’s fine, it really is. Yeah, I see them a lot less now that they’re both married. But I do still see them. I’ll admit, the loneliness is starting to get to me but I'm fine. She’ll be coming, I just need to stay busy until then…
