Acerca de esta escucha

The never-before-told true account of the serial killers who terrorized Nashville’s music scene for decades - and the cold-case Murder Squad determined to bring an end to their sadistic sprees.

Nashville - a haven for aspiring musicians and a magnet for country-music fans. By the time Pat Postiglione arrived there in 1980, it was also the scene of an unsolved series of vicious sex slayings that served as a harbinger of worse to come. As Postiglione was promoted from street-beat Metro cop to detective sergeant heading Music City’s elite cold-case Murder Squad, some of America’s most bizarre, elusive, and savage serial killers were calling Nashville home. And during the next two decades, the body count climbed.

From Vanderbilt University to dive bars and out-of-the-way motels, Postiglione followed the bloody tracks of these ever-escalating crimes - each enacted by a different psychopath with the same intent: to murder without motive or remorse. But of all the investigations, of all the monsters Postiglione chased, few were as chilling, or as game changing, as the Rest Stop Killer: a homicidal trucker who turned the interstates into his trolling ground. Next stop, Nashville. But Postiglione was waiting.

Excellent and horrifying true story about a great detective solving serial murders

This is as true a crime story you will find. The serial murders in Nashville were horrific. I was a Metro Nashville detective during a lot of these murders and personally know the detectives involved. Because of their tenacity, especially Pat’s, a lot of vicious violent killers are incarcerated. And.. a lot of victim families have their justice.. if any can be had. The author does a wonderful job providing details and will keep you well interested in the stories… Nashville is a great city.. much thanks to the fine men and women who protect it each day.. and especially to Pat and the murder squad for serving Justice, especially for Marsha Trimble.

horrible narration

the narrator talks with a creepy phone sex voice and at the end of each sentence he takes about a 2 second pause before resuming. I lasted about 5 mins before I couldn't take it anymore.

Mediocre True Crime

First of all, the title of a book about serial killers should never include the word "mayhem." Mayhem is when kids egg houses on Halloween--it's not an apt description for heinous and gruesome murders. The title would have been better as The M Squad since the story focused on one cop who was a member and eventual leader of the so-named squad in Nashville. Following his career and the murders he solved was interesting and had a lot of potential, but there was too much repetition (Postiglione's back story was repeated several times) and at times too much detail (who cares that they were using Netscape) like the author was trying to make the story longer even though he had nothing else to say. The narrator was overall not bad, but he pronounced filling as filing and frequented as friQUENted which was super annoying. Overall, a mediocre true crime experience.

Interesting history

Fascinating history, the narrator is somewhat monotone I don’t like making long descriptions, but they want 15 words.

Better in written form?

To many facts to keep straight on a morning commute. Could have done without some of the finite details of the stabbings. Good recount of the evolution of solving cold cases.
