A bit slow to start, but wow

The story is excellent and in the vein of Philip K Dick in dealing with technology that themes that didn't even exist in the 80's. Ahead of his time.
The narration is at times disorienting, as he struggles to keep accents and voices straight when there's no clear indicator of who's speaking in a conversation. It may be a minor gripe, as his pace and diction are very good.

Cyberpunk greatness

Mona Lisa Overdrive is a genre defining novel that should not be missed. It is the third novel in sprawl series and takes place 15 years after the book Neuromancer. This novel is filled with memorable characters and places. Read it. #Cyberpunk #Dystopian #SprawlSeries #Nostalgic #Tagsgiving #Sweepstakes

Traveling across vast innerscapes

Gripping and immersive, Mona Lisa Overdrive weaves together previous story lines. Like the particles described in Feynman diagrams, disparate characters collide and transition into their next phase, perpetually in motion.

A good finish to the story with room for more

An excellent finishing to the story that actually has a feel good ending. Allows room for the universe to expand to other content in the same context. While good still and a must read if not to just finish the series I'd say it was my least favorite in the trilogy, the characters meant less to me overall. Although Slick was intriguing, and I smiled at Mona's ending although I was dubious of her happiness lasting, who's to say.

I'd recommend the series for sure!

Can’t make up my mind…

Whether to think of this as a nice / okay continuation of the story of the previous two volumes - or as the weakest outing of the three.

The thing is, when you like, or find interesting a story setting and characters, it’s natural to want to read more. On the other hand, if it was a success, the author needs to survive, and it could come natural to them to just recount more from their thoughts in that world - so they come up with more. A win-win? I don’t know. Maybe in some cases, hints, insinuations, thoughts in volume 1 should really NOT lead to lengthy volumes 4, 5, 6. There are tons of examples of this out there: Dune! Foundation! Star Wars! and on and on!

But I’ll cut the author done slack here - mostly be a use the original work was so revolutionary, and this is “only” volume 3…

Intricate enough for several listens.

Where does Mona Lisa Overdrive rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This ranks in top 20 of 100+ books I've listened to. I am a big fan of Jonathan Davis, though, so this made a big difference.

What did you like best about this story?

The characters all had unique personalities, and the action kept things moving along fairly well, even though Gibson's stories are fairly cerebral.

Have you listened to any of Jonathan Davis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Compared favorably to All Tomorrow's parties and The Windup Girl, both of which I listened to multiple times.

Classic Gibson

really wraps up the trilogy well. Interweaves multiple stories together to wrap it up. Wish there was more with the Loa.
