Loved it then, great audible.

The audible version is perfect. Matt Clayton's prose style is borderline "quaint" but adds a nice personal touch. The lack of commas in places may require a couple reads of some sentences. Even so I highly recommend Mythology as it covers both Greek, Roman, along with teaser Norse mythology.

Would have given it a 5-star rating; however...

Would have given it a 5-star rating; however, some of the pages are really discolored, unclean looking, a lot of dog-eared pages, and bent cover page. But it does do the job, no pages seem to be missing so far and it is still readable.

A Classic of Mythology Research

I first read this amazing collection as a high school student interested in Greek and Roman mythology. Now, as a teacher of English at the high school level myself, I have re-read and recommended this book to a great many students. For someone wanting to delve deeper into Norse, Greek, and Roman mythology, but not yet ready for the commitment that Bullfinch might take. I keep several copies on my shelf, and now have it on Kindle as well.

Great book on Greek mythology.

I have to say, I'm disappointed I didn't discover Matt Clayton sooner. I loved every moment of this book. It focuses mainly on Greek mythology, although there is a brief section on Norse mythology at the end. I appreciate that she lists her sources for each story at the beginning of the chapter and her telling of the these myths are easily read, but not over simplified and the result is highly enjoyable.

Good stuff covers all bases

This audible stuff is very comprehensive but a little too verbose for my taste. This is a wonderful and well written voice stuff and I heartily recommend it

The correct book that was needed

It took a really long time to finally got the book I was need. History is my love and Spanish is my loving language. I would recommend it.

Best way to learn history, listen to it.

It is more interested in what modern readers can learn and understand of ancient Greece THROUGH Greek myth, which is, by her own admission, a little shaky. If you listen to other lectures given by historians or archaeologists who use different evidence and materials, it's not surprising that they may understand an institution, or interpret a phenomenon, in vastly different ways.

A Valuable Resource

I especially enjoyed Matt Clayton's sharp critiques of the Greek, Roman and Norse authors who provided her source material as well as her skillful ability to merge details from several different versions of most of the legends into seamless, compelling stories. Scholarly and yet accessible to the general reader, this book is absolutely essential reading for anyone who is interested in understanding the roots of Western civilization.

Really stellar condition.

Came way sooner than expected and absolutely brand new which was unexpected as well. Very pleased!
