Anya Novak was a talented viola player who had moved from Slovakia to New York City just a year before. With no family or close friends, she led a lonely life and much like her viola, she was comfortable being in the background. As the holidays approached, she was selected to play in a small chamber orchestra that would be performing a holiday concert at Lincoln Center. There, she met a mysterious older gentleman who introduced her to David, another musician. Like her, David also led a quiet and relatively lonely life and Anya began to think she had a chance at happiness. But a mishap two days before Christmas and the loss of her most prized possession changed that. Would she be able to overcome these challenges and connect with David?
Miss Novak’s Christmas is a story of overcoming adversity and insecurity. It also offers a unique view of Christmas beliefs and traditions. This is the third Christmas-themed novella by Robert A. Valle.

Magical!
Having arrived in New York City from Slovakia the year prior, Anya Novak has been trying to find her place. Coming from Slovakia, her familiarity with the way of life here in America is a bit off. Having lost her family and having no friends, her life as a silent wallflower has been comfortable for her. Highly skilled at playing the viola, her potential remains untapped until one kindly gentleman with a resemblance to Saint Nick becomes involved in her life. Miss Novak is about to experience the true feeling of Christmas this year!
Robert Valle, the author, creatively weaves a magical Christmas story that resonates with the listeners. Through the vivid descriptions and narrative, the listener experiences every emotion, tear, and longing of each character. Clearly and vividly brought to life, one experiences the magic of Christmas. His characters are well-developed, and the situations are authentic feelings. With each story, he brings in previous characters in meaningful ways that further enrich the story and emotions. This series is more engaging than each year’s collection of Hallmark Christmas movies!
The narrator, Luke deMaine relays the story of Miss Novak clearly and concisely. He injects the story with the proper emotion, tone, and cadence that moves the story forward at a steady pace. There are times when one can vividly see the character with a sparkle in his eye and a slight knowing grin on his face. This vivid imagery comes from the combined work of Robert Valle and Luke deMaine!
While this is a simple storyline, it does encapsulate a powerful and magical tone for the season. Love it!
