Acerca de esta escucha

A Biblical primer on men and women in the church.

There is much at stake in God making humanity male and female. Created for one another yet distinct from each other, a man and a woman are not interchangeable — they are designed to function according to a divine fittedness. But when this design is misunderstood, ignored, or abused, there are dire consequences.

Men and women — in marriage especially, but in the rest of life as well — complement one another. And this biblical truth has enduring, cosmic significance. From start to finish, the biblical storyline — and the design of creation itself — depends upon the distinction between male and female. Men and Women in the Church is about the divinely designed complementarity of men and women as it applies to life in general and especially ministry in the church.

Kevin DeYoung pulls no punches

Another winner from DeYoung. Reading from Ton Parks was easy to follow, though if you really want to check his exegesis you probably want a physical copy of the book

Solid and Accessible

Enjoyed the path through Scripture taken by the author in making his case. Touched on most of the main areas of contention, but without getting into the weeds. Recommend at the lay level.

Truth seasoned with salt and covered in love

For those involved in the work of the ministry of the church and inevitably facing the egalitarian vs. complimentarian question, this book is a fantastic reference. It's not only clear and concise in the argument that Kevin DeYoung lays out, but it's convincing and makes complete biblical sense with love and grace. If you're batting around the ideas of men and women's roles and responsibilities in the church, and want to approach this topic in a sound manner that's seasoned with salt, read this book. It's not only a quick read, but the narrator is easy to listen to and does a great job emphasizing what DeYoung was surely trying to get across. I thoroughly enjoyed this deep dive as a pastor.

Thoroughly Biblical and Accessible

DeYoung faithfully sets forth what Christians have believed for millenia, gently responds to objections, and encourages men and women to live with the grain of creation according to God's good design.
