Acerca de esta escucha

This fast and easy pharmacology review through mnemonics recognizes that many future nurses, doctors, physician assistants, and pharmacists (chemists) have families, jobs, and other responsibilities. Do you have time enough time to make 100 percent sure you will pass in the classroom or on the board exam? For most students taking the NCLEX, NAPLEX, USMLE Step-1, PANCE, GPHC, or KAPS exam, the answer is no.

I wrote this mnemonic guide as an audiobook first to help you remember pharmacology drug names and principles quickly. While in the classroom your professors might say memorization doesn't matter, but you can't bring outside material to the board exam, so for this test, you do need to work on memory training. You already know the consequences of failing a class or board exam, so let's make sure that doesn't happen by getting pharmacology organized in your head once and for all.

Great resource for nursing students!!

This is a great resource for nursing students! When you look at the big picture of trying to memorize drugs names it is quite hard. It is so hard for me to sit and read a book especially when I do not know how to pronounce most of the words. This audiobook helped shorted my study time down and helped me actually retrain the information. It is also great because you can put in on and play it wherever you are. The mnemonics is also a great way to help with the drugs you are struggling with and also make studying kind of fun. Here are some of my favorite mnemonics so far.
ABDUCT- This helped me a lot when studying anticholinergic effects!
A-anhydrosis
B- Blurry vision
D- Dry eyes
U- Urinary retention
C- Constipation
T- Tachycardia
Another mnemonic that helped was RIPER. It helped with learning anti-tuberculosis drugs.
Rifampin
Isoniazid
Pyrazinamide
Ethambutol
Rifabutin

Jo

This book was extremely helpful especially for the Neuro chapters. the drug names that had similar endings scared me at first sight, but after reading the whole paragraph of each drug i mastered them easily. He has these little stories and made up words that really rhyme in your head and allow you to remember the brand and generic names easily. The Orange book used with the blue Memorizing pharmacology will allow you to succeed any pharmacology course.

So Helpful!!

This audiobook is not only extremely helpful to listen to on my commute but it keeps me entertained! Dr. Guerra really connects with the audience and I'm actually retaining information. As a P3 about to start rotations, this has been such a help and I feel much more confident walking into my rotations. I highly recommend this audiobook!!

Great Resource for Nursing Students!

As a nursing student I am always trying to find a way to shorten the amount of time I am studying but, also wanting to retain the information I am learning. Mnemonics are a great and useful tool for me! Although I would not use mnemonics for all 400 drugs, it has helped tremendously a good amount of the drugs needed to learn! Listening to the audio book hands-free and anywhere is very beneficial when I am driving for long periods of time, at appointments, shopping, etc! Some mnemonics that stuck with me are:

ABDUCT for Anticholinergic Side Effects. This was a very simple and easy way to remember the side effects and was also used a lot when dealing with gastrointestinal medications.

A: Anhidrosis
B: Blurry vision
D: Dry eyes
U: Urinary retention
C: Constipation
T: Tachycardia

GRAM NEGATIVES for Aminoglycosides helped me because the mnemonic matched the type of medication. This mnemonic also had not only the symptoms, but also the medication names.

G: Gram-negative
R: Renal toxic
A: Aura toxic
M: Monitor peaks

N: Neomycin/ Polymyxin B
E
G: Gentamicin
A: Amikacin
T: Tobramycin
I: Inhibit protein synthesis
V
E
S: Streptomycin

Easy Way to Learning How to Pronounce Medications!

As a Nursing Student taking the course, Pharmacology, this was a great source to learn how to pronounce a medication correctly and great mnemonics to memorize medications!

It has always been difficult for myself to pronounce advanced words, such as Acetaminophen, having this resource to look back on to really understand how to sound a word out step-by-step, with examples of words that have the same sounds within. With a Acetaminophen, this book breaks it down into A-Ce-Ta-Mi'-No-Phen, along with word examples: A (comm(a)) - Ce ((Ce)iling - Ta (da(ta)) - Mi' ((Mi)nt) - No (ca(no)n) - Phen (Hy(hen)). Having two examples for each medication to help pronounce them has really helped!

Along with sounding each medication out, the book explains each medication into detail. For examples taken from the book itself , "Acetaminophen is a non-narcotic analgesic, contrasting with medications like morphine that are narcotic analgesic... Acetaminophen's bright red box with white lettering is easy to spot on pharmacy shelves". It really helps sounding the drug out correctly and hearing a little input on each drug.

This is a great resource for anybody going into the healthcare profession, it has less text and summed up definition of common drugs in our society today. So instead of carrying a book that has over 500 pages of text and weighs almost 30 pounds, this book is roughly 150 pages in a convenient hand held size. It is so much easier to carry around walking all over the college and when I am on the go.

Great Buy!! Two thumbs up!

Great supplement for those learning pharmacology!

Loved having the audio book to listen to while I studied or ran errands. The voice is a little dry compared to the English voice on "Memorizing Pharmacology: A Relaxed Approach." However the voice is very clear. I like the jokes and silly mnemonics. These really help to take the massive amount of material and make it more approachable.

My favorite mnemonics are "Man, Flush This" for Diuretics, "Ups Affect"" for SSRI's and the "MT ALT CCD" for Benzodiazepines short-to-long acting. These stuck in my head easily and helped a lot in studying.

Very helpful!

I really enjoyed the different mnemonics in this book! It’s very helpful if you have time to sit down and write out the different ones given. Some of them are really odd which makes you remember them even better!

Highly recommend

I used this audio version as a second resource to review for the NAPLEX. I love how organized the sections are and how they highlight the most common drugs and their uses and side effects. I feel more confident after listening to this audiobook and taking notes and recommend it as a study tool.

Enjoyable

I wish I thought of pharmacy audiobooks a long time ago. This would have my long 1-3 hour commutes that much better. The mnemonics are the best!
