It was 1967 at Indiana University when Jana St. James, then 18 years old, met graduate student Robert Waller at a campus coffeehouse where he was playing his guitar. At first what they shared was an innocent friendship and simple love of guitar music. But then their love blossomed into something neither of them ever imagined possible. For the next 10 months, the lovers were swept away by their overwhelming feelings for each other despite Waller's seven-year marriage. In 1993 St. James curled up on the couch of her cozy Southern California home to read the new book of her dear friend. It wasn't long before she experienced a shortness of breath and a relentless ache remembering the emotions she had fought so hard to forget. Why were there so many similarities...were the memories still alive for him, too?
Now, for the first time, St. James has come forward to tell her side of the story of an impossible love...from the innocent phases of friendship through gentle afternoons as lovers, and ultimately to the heart-wrenching yet inevitable end of their relationship.

Riding someone else sails
I did not like the way she seemed to imitate Bridges of Madison County
For some reason I didn’t want to hear their story.
If she wanted to tell their story. Then do it without Bridges as a prop.
