In 1966, at fifteen, Milagros—shy but extraordinarily talented and full of dreams—becomes a pianist for a band of seasoned musicians in Havana. She rubs shoulders with high-ranking officials until she meets Adam, from Czechoslovakia, who falls in love with her and asks her to marry him.
