Good Story, Awkward Chapters

The chapter divisions aren't truly where the chapters begin and end. The story itself was enjoyable.

Good story, it wasn't a big mystery like Rebecca. But this author knows how to tell a great story. Good book.

Another excellent Du Maurier book!

Throughly engaging, beautifully written with wonderful narration.
Recommend along with all other Du Maurier classics.

Would you listen to Mary Anne again? Why?

Wonderful story; told in a marvelously vintage manner - vivid descriptions; well-developed characters; outstanding plot. DuMaurier is a master story-teller.

Hard to understand

The story was inviting however, the narrator was so fast talking and with an accent it was hard for me to understand most of which she was talking about.

Excellent in all categories

A great read for Anglophiles and lovers of period pieces. Have read the other well known works by the author. Now will read more of the lesser known works. Will seek out pieces by the narrator- she's wonderful.

Somewhat Depressing

This story is well presented. I found the plot was somewhat depressing so be prepared for that.

Beautifully done

I've been a fan of du Maurier's Rebecca, so I took a chance on purchasing Mary Anne. So glad I did...now I'm hooked on Daphne du Maurier, and I can't wait to get another book. Beautifully performed by Carole Boyd..great vocals for both men and women as well as accents.

Entertaining

The story was interesting but some points hard to follow especially with the British accent.

Boring

Daphne du Maurier is my favorite author. But this book isn’t it! I had a really hard time listening to it all the way through. A story about a whore and how she cheats everyone. Not really my kind of book. Lots of drawn out chatter about pretty boring subjects. Reminds me a the book vanity fair but not as good.
