Acerca de esta escucha
American-based foreign correspondent Ivor Davis delivers a gripping "I was there" eyewitness, inside story about the most notorious murder spree of the 20th century.
In Manson Exposed: A Reporter's 50-Year Journey into Madness and Murder, Davis is the brutally honest guide to this true crime horror story.
In this mix of personal memoir, criticism, and investigative journalism, Davis delivers a truly original take on the byzantine case that terrified and mesmerized the nation, including his new conclusion that the Beatles didn't make them do it.
Davis was on the front lines of the story and offers vivid, personal accounts, interviews, and hitherto unknown details from the very beginning right up to the death of the blue collar psycho named Charles Manson.
He charts the tragic inside stories not only of the those murdered but of the long list of collateral damage victims: the rock star, the Oscar-winning director, and the entertainment legends whose lives were also destroyed by Charles Manson and his crackpot acolytes.

Historia
The very strange but nevertheless true story of the dark underbelly of a 1960s hippie utopia. Laurel Canyon in the 1960s and early 1970s was a magical place where a dizzying array of musical artists congregated to create much of the music that provided the soundtrack to those turbulent times. But there was a dark side to that scene as well. Many didn't make it out alive, and many of those deaths remain shrouded in mystery to this day.

Now available for the first time in unabridged audio, the gripping story of this famous and haunting crime is brought to life by acclaimed narrator Scott Brick.

Historia
Over two grim nights in Los Angeles, the young followers of Charles Manson murdered seven people, including the actress Sharon Tate, then eight months pregnant. With no mercy and seemingly no motive, the Manson Family followed their leader's every order. Twenty years ago, when journalist Tom O'Neill was reporting a magazine piece about the murders, he worried there was nothing new to say. Then he unearthed shocking evidence of a cover-up behind the "official" story, including police carelessness, legal misconduct, and potential surveillance by intelligence agents.

Historia
It began as a home invasion by the “Manson family” in the early hours of August 9, 1969. It ended in a killing spree that left seven people dead: actress Sharon Tate, writer Voyteck Frykowski, coffee heiress Abigail Folger, hair stylist Jay Sebring, student Steven Parent, supermarket owner Leno LaBianca, and his wife, Rosemary. The shock waves of these crimes still reverberate today. They have also, over time, eclipsed the life of their most famous victim - a Dallas beauty queen with Hollywood aspirations.

Historia
More than 40 years ago Charles Manson and his mostly female commune killed nine people, among them the pregnant actress Sharon Tate. It was the culmination of a criminal career that author Jeff Guinn traces back to Manson’s childhood. Guinn interviewed Manson’s sister and cousin, neither of whom had ever previously cooperated with an author. Childhood friends, cellmates, and even some members of the Manson family have provided new information about Manson’s life. Guinn has made discoveries about the night of the Tate murders, answering unresolved questions.

This masterful biography by one of Germany’s best known journalists was the leading nonfiction best seller in Germany. Fest shows Hitler as the receptacle of the dreads and resentments of a shaken social order, gifted with an uncanny instinct for all that was hollow behind the appearance of power, at home and abroad. Though a warped human being, he was neither clown nor puppet, as many liked to think; Hitler appears here as an enormously astute politician, impressing and hypnotizing Germans and foreigners alike with the scope of his projects and the theatricality of their presentation. Fest uncovers in Hitler a constantly destructive personality....

The tragic story of Susan Powell and her murdered boys, Charlie and Braden, is the only case that rivals the Jon Benet Ramsey saga in the annals of true crime. When the pretty, blonde Utah mother went missing in December of 2009 the media was swept up in the story - with lenses and microphones trained on Susan's husband, Josh. He said he had no idea what happened to his young wife, and that he and the boys had been camping in the middle of a snowstorm.

In the 1950s, a young Indianapolis minister named Jim Jones preached a curious blend of the gospel and Marxism. His congregation was racially mixed, and he was a leader in the early civil rights movement. Eventually, Jones moved his church, Peoples Temple, to northern California, where he got involved in electoral politics and became a prominent Bay Area leader. But underneath the surface lurked a terrible darkness.

A Lie Too Big to Fail asserts the idea that a government can never investigate itself in a crime of this magnitude. Was the convicted Sirhan Sirhan a willing participant? Or was he a mind-controlled assassin? It has fallen to independent researchers like Pease to lay out the evidence in a clear and concise manner, allowing listeners to form their theories about this event. Pease places the history of this event in the context of the era and provides shocking overlaps between other high-profile murders and attempted murders of the time.

Since 1929, Hollywood’s brightest stars have flocked to the Chateau Marmont as if it were a second home. An apartment building-turned-hotel, the Chateau has been the backdrop for generations of gossip and folklore: where director Nicholas Ray slept with his 16-year-old Rebel Without a Cause star Natalie Wood; Jim Morrison swung from the balconies; John Belushi suffered a fatal overdose; and Lindsay Lohan got the boot after racking up nearly $50,000 in charges in less than two months. Much of what has happened inside the Chateau’s walls has eluded the public eye - until now.

With over 70 million records sold, Black Sabbath, dubbed by Rolling Stone “the Beatles of heavy metal,” helped create the genre itself, with their distinctive heavy riffs, tuned down guitars, and apocalyptic lyrics. Bassist and primary lyricist Geezer Butler played a gigantic part in the band’s renown, from suggesting the band name to using his fascination with horror, religion, and the occult to compose the lyrics and build the foundation of heavy metal as we know it. In Into the Void, Butler tells his side of the story.

The New Evil also presents compelling evidence that, since a cultural tipping-point in the 1960s, certain types of violent crime have emerged that in earlier decades never or very rarely occurred.

Revisiting Dr. Michael Stone's groundbreaking 22-level Gradations of Evil Scale, a hierarchy of evil behavior first introduced in the book The Anatomy of Evil, Stone and Dr. Gary Brucato, a fellow violence and serious psychopathology expert, here provide even more detail, using dozens of cases to exemplify the categories along the continuum. The New Evil also presents compelling evidence that, since a cultural tipping-point in the 1960s, certain types of violent crime have emerged that in earlier decades never or very rarely occurred.

Historia
In the summer of 1969, Leslie Van Houten and Patricia Krenwinkel carried out horrific acts of butchery on the orders of the charismatic cult leader Charles Manson. At their murder trial the following year, lead prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi described the two so-called Manson Women as "human monsters". But to anyone who knew them growing up, they were bright, promising girls, seemingly incapable of such an unfathomable crime. Award-winning journalist Nikki Meredith began visiting Van Houten and Krenwinkel in prison to discover how they had changed during their incarceration.

Well Done
I have read many books now on the topic surrounding the case of August 1969. This was quite interesting in the seldom revealed details of several incidents where CM & "family members" were involved. CM's prison details are quite enlightening. I found it well articulated and enjoyed the clear and well paced style of the narrator as well. Not just another "Manson book." 👏 📚

Great book. Nice to see from a different view
It took me a while to get into the book. I was thinking, "why do we need the media point of view? Isn't that basically the standard story?" But soon I realized the value of this edition. There were several things in the book which were new for me. The cool thing is that there is focus on aspects usually not focused upon. The narrator is absolutely perfect.
I really appreciated the focus on "involved" or "other" characters. Also loved the information about Manson's life in prison. This is one of the more recent books, so there are updates which are interesting.
A few times I noticed things that were not exactly correct--or at least were not the way they are usually said to be. But there's no exaggeration in the promos for this book. Davis knows this stuff well and has been involved in it.

Great Book about Manson
I've read probably every book on Manson, and this is one of my favorites. Ivor Davis covered the events of 1969 and the subsequent trials, so he has a unique perspective that I really enjoyed.
Narration was superb. You will love this one!

Manson……… again???
My first thought…. Another Manson book?? However, this authors past of actually being there during the trails, and interviews with family members and experiences make this version of the same old stuff much more palatable with a person touch that could only come off from being there since the beginning. Bravo!!! WAY better than the Guinn book!!! Give it a listen!!

This is a good read...it basically sticks to facts not going in to conspiracy theories
I’ve watched and read just about everything on Charles Manson...know matter what people try to come up with...the simple fact is that Mason wanted to be a musician and a lot of people thought he was good enough for the time..but they couldn’t control him when it came to trying to record him... so instead they jerked him around had sex with the women then lied about they’re association when the murders went down...Tex Watson burns a drug dealer then Manson gets the bikers involved for protection from the black panthers the bikers force Bobby to get money back from hinman witch started the copy cat murders to get Bobby out of jail Tate was killed has a copy cat and a chance to get money and scare meltcher...so the Rosemary and Leno were killed as a copy cat and another robbery Manson picked two homes he knew and knew were wealthy....Helter skelter was just some acid trip bull shit...when the copy cat murders didn’t work and members were in jail Manson knew they would talk like Susan did so he hauled ass to the desert...Charles told Tex to kill because he owed him for the bad drug deal but they was also supposed to get money but every time they killed they was so high it just got worse to many drugs the LAPD was just to stupid and hard headed to connect the murders....and that’s why those people died terry meltcher Jacobson Dennis Wilson fucked with Manson to long because they liked the girls and Tex Watson and Bobby Beausoleil should have been left to deal with they’re own shit

Absolutely not
When I began listening to this book it seemed like a great journey however it turned out very dry and repetitive.
I had to give up as I found it a waste of time to continue.
The author praising Roman Polanski over and over was cringe. Especially if you know what he did later in life. Besides it has been described in other books how he was unfaithful to Sharon Tate even on the night she was murdered.

Almost WHOLLY factually inaccurate.
What more is there to say? Almost WHOLLY factually inaccurate. Shameful. And a Charlie-profiter. My knowledge base? +30 years. And NO. NOT a Charlie fan or sympathizer. The mistakes are lazy work. For instance. Jay Sebring’s height. Where Gibby and Voytek were when the Family invaded. How long it took for the jury to return a verdict! THESE DETAILS MATTER. Why? Because FACTS MATTER. And such lazy research makes this UNREADABLE. And a joke.
