Mr Coelho blessed the world with The Alchemist. I believe Maktub, and it’s release date are for the generation of us who found ourselves in The Alchemist. We who found an unwavering love for life, living it, and the pursuit of our personal legend, like Santiago. This is a story Paulo awoke in a record number of people! Many of us, likely returned to The Alchemist many times from “then” until “now”. It is my belief that Maktub is a wonderful companion for we ready to have more understanding of beautiful learnings and diverse metaphors, representing everyday miracles, the callings on Our lives, and the shared struggles. It has the potential to enliven we who’ve read The Alchemist, towards our truest roots, at a seemingly turbulent time in our world. Thank you Mr Coelho, worker of parables and warrior of the Light!

Second to the Alchemist

The Alchemist changed my life. I had always loved the Warrior of Light. This is a proud successor to both.

Coehlo read by Ballerini = perfection

While the audiobook is new, the work is actually from 1994 and serves with ‘Warrior of the Light’ as co-companion pieces to the Alchemist.
However the reader needs to understand this is nothing like a follow-up, sequel, etc … it is simply a collection of brief tales, retellings of anecdotes and parables much like those at the heart of the Alchemist.
That it is brief is very much to its benefit - yet there will be some passages with enough impact that you’ll wish to pause the audiobook and write them down.
And again, anything read by Ballerini is going to exceed expectations - and his reading of Coehlo is as good as it can possibly get.

Disappointed

I was hoping for and expected more. A collection of short stories, nowhere near as moving as The Alchemist.

Beautiful stories but poorly read

I have always loved Paulo Coelho's books and have been waiting for this, in English, as an audio book, for quite sum time.
Unfortunately the poor reading really distracts from the stories. There is barely a pause for breath between them.
It is like listening to an old teacher reading a lecture to their class that they has presented several 1000 times. They know it by rote and are completely bored with presenting it.
Disappointing.
