Acerca de esta escucha
Mail Order Lottery: Ruth Takes a Chance is about an independent woman from New York who wants more than anything to move out west, become a ranch hand, and earn enough money to buy her own farm. She corresponds privately with a man who explains that she could join him at a lottery mixer put on by a company who arranges marriages, but that they would have an advantage in that he could let her know who he was, and with any luck at all they would be matched up. She manages to get free transport out west to the lottery event, not knowing what will really happen when it begins.

A unexpected story!
What does Joe Smith bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I particularly liked the way Mr. Smith read the part of Ruth upon her awakening in Blair's cabin. I found myself cringing and ducking along with Blair!
Any additional comments?
All throughout this story, I just couldn't see how 2 stubborn people could ever see eye to eye in marriage. But our country should be thankful for bold, headstrong pioneers such as these, for without them our country may never have been founded.
