This book was a fun twist and a nice way the bring one of the wayward flock back to the nest.

This is book three in the series and while they are about different couples there is an overarching story building between all of the books and I recommend reading/listening in order.

This is Anna’s brother and a college friend of hers. They make a nice pairing. He has never felt real love and is coming off a long undercover mission and she is a widowed single mom who has some triggers around guns. They help balance each other out and find their center.

This book was narrated by the ever talented Erin Mallon whom I just adore as a narrator, writer and person.

As well as Lance Greenfield who is always a pleaser to listen to

Loved This One

First off, I typically love L.B. Dunbar’s books, but this wasn’t a favorite. The other books in series are so fantastic and this book has a different feel. The characters in this book didn’t seem to stand out. It’s still a good read but not up to the same level as the other books.

Good, but not best in series

4.5 stars. Archer has been MIA from his family for years, so when he finally comes home he doesn’t expect to find a women and her 2 girls in his garage apartment. I really enjoyed this book watching Archer start to open up to Jenna and her girls and trying to figure out how he now fits into his family. Jenna lost her husband several years ago and isn’t sure she is ready to open her heart to another man, especially one who is gruff and mysterious. Definitely worth the read and can’t wait for the next book in this series. I also really enjoyed these narrators.

Great second chance story

I’ve been watching this author for some time, but hadn’t had a chance to read them until now. And actually I got this on audio. Go figure that the male voice, Lance Greenfield is one of my favorite narrators.

Archer returns home after a long absence. He finds a stranger in his bed. He calls her “Locks” as she has dark hair.
Jenna is a widow with two young girls. When her friend invites her to visit, she jumps at the chance. Thus begins the “forced proximity” and fighting attraction. Archer has many “hard topics” he cannot discuss. He has been injured, and has many tattoos.

Archer is brilliant with the small girls. Little Rosie, 3 is accepting. Talia at 5 is skeptical.

All about family both by blood and chosen. Caring, trust, emotions, and following your heart. Phenomenal read/listen.

***** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book *****

I really enjoyed this story and the audible version as well! It contained complex emotions and adorable children. I shed a few tears before it was all over and didn't mind at all.

Wonderful audio!

This was my first book by author L.B. Dunbar and the story captured my attention right from the beginning. I really enjoyed how Archer and Jenna’s relationship developed throughout this book. I also loved Archer’s interactions with Jenna’s adorable little daughters and his love for them just melted my heart. Erin Mallon and Lance Greenfield were fantastic bringing the characters and story to life.

Great story & narration

I enjoyed the journey of friendship between Archer and Jenna. I love single parent romances so this was a Bonus. Also can be read as a standalone as I know this is a part of a bigger series. I do enjoy seeing all of the side characters sprinkled into the story. There were surprises along the way which is always nice. Lance and Erin are top tier narrators. I have always enjoyed a story where they are co-narrators. I need to get caught up on a few of the previous stories in this collection.

Enjoyed

Ok

Could’ve been a really good book but the writing was choppy and distracting because it veered between inner dialogue and actual conversation and it was hard for the listener to tell the difference. The FMC, Jenna, would be talking to Archer, the MC, and suddenly she’s having a inner dialogue moment that lasted several paragraphs.

Also, the book is long. I had the skip several chapters because I was bored and missed the connection between Lonnie and Archer which seemed to be an interesting point but I didn’t want to go back and find the scene where Archer told Jenna.

Anna constantly scolding her older brother Archer was pissing me off. Granted she didn’t know who he was or what he did but their dad and husband knew something about him. You’d think she’d at least trust that they wouldn’t let a bum, vagabond, junkie, dealer or whatever she imagined Archer to be just occasionally hang around. I know she was hurting but she acted like some judgmental mom not a baby sister.

That twin Trevor is dangerous. Rosie is a warrior (princess-LOL!) but his attitude when she could’ve fallen was just too future psycho for me.

There was a lot in this book and I really didn’t connect the way I thought I would with the story and characters. This is my 1st L. B. Dunbar book but it will probably be my last.

The narrator were ok. Not my favorites but decent.

Ok but not what I hoped
