Love’s Cost is the story of two men who fight so hard for love and their happiness. Jeff and Trent are two very different people who complement each other.

The beginning of the story is extremely difficult to listen to. Jeff loses his partner Adam. He is deeply affected by his loss and is afraid to move forward and let himself love again. He struggles with feeling lonely and yet feeling guilty about living and allowing himself to feel after the loss of his lover.

Trent is brash and stubborn and straightforward about his feelings toward Jeff. He wants a relationship and wants to be part of Jeff’s life. Jeff had never opened up to Trent about what happened years earlier and so Trent is understandably upset when Jeff just pushes him away when he tries to get closer.

Janice Jarrell writes wonderful characters. They are frustrating and difficult, but more than anything, they are human. They are sad and angry and loving and wonderful. They are human with their frailties and egos and emotions all out there. The story isn’t an easy one for these two men, but they soldier on in their own ways. As with all of Janice’s books, the story and the characters draw you in so that you can’t wait to find out what happens next. I enjoyed this story, just as I have the others.

Walker Williams is absolutely amazing. His vocals and talent bring these characters to life. I love listening to his whiskey smooth voice. No one else could do these stories justice.

Thank you Janice and Walker for a wonderful audiobook.

BEAUTIFUL BOOK, BEAUTIFUL VOICE

If you want to experience a Book this is the one for you. The writing and the voice that does the narration have to be like satin flowing together. This is the dynamic between JANICE JARRELL and WALKER WILLIAMS. Their styles flow like water in a babbling brook.
Jeff a CIA analyst and Trent a physical therapist goes back to their friendship with Colin and Josh. Trent has been trying to win over Jeff, the relationship shy guy for quite some time. Their story gets really complicated when Trent finds out he has a daughter.
The beauty and solutions that Janice Jarrell gives her characters is something to behold. She writes pure romance that has a few bumps in the road but offers up solutions that come from experiences in life. Walker Williams brings these characters into living breathing beings that steal your heart. This Audible is the perfect way to enjoy a Book. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS AUDIBLE AND ALL BOOKS WRITTEN BY THIS AUTHOR.

Jeff's life is destroyed when his husband dies. He's struggling to move on with his life. He meets Trent, who is vibrant and alive. He fights to be in Jeff's life. The story is heart breaking but also healing. The character building is amazing. The story had me in tears. Walker Williams does a phenomenal job with their narration. Each voice clear and distinct. Overall a fantastic story with wonderful narration. Highly recommend!

Broke my heart and put it back together again.

I somehow missed reading Love’s Cost with my eyes when it was first published. I even bought a copy but never got around to reading it. I’m kind of “sorry, not sorry” because when I listened to the recently released audiobook, I absolutely loved it. Walker Williams has done an outstanding job performing all of Janice Jarrell’s audiobooks. In fact, he is the original reason I became such a fan of her work. I was blown away when I listened to Love’s Magic the first book in her Revolutionary Heart series.

Love’s Cost is about Jeff Kerry and Trent Peterson. They are friends of Josh and Colin (who were introduced in Love’s Magic and are the MCs of the Fearless Heart series). I think you can read this book as a standalone story but you might enjoy it more if you read the other books first and they are fantastic stories, too.

We know from the blurb that Jeff’s husband dies but there is more to it than that and those events have caused Jeff to keep his heart frozen for seven years. Jeff has had a thing going with Trent for a while now but Trent is developing feelings for Jeff and he’s no longer happy with just a casual affair.

This is a fairly angsty story. Trent is pushing Jeff for more in their relationship and Jeff isn’t ready. Colin and Josh try and get Jeff to see that Adam would have wanted him to find love again and that he needs to come clean to Trent about everything. Just when their relationship is finally getting on track Trent gets news that shocks both of them and it’s something that Jeff just can’t handle.

I really wish I could say more but I don’t do spoilers. Jeff and Trent do get a HEA and it was all the more meaningful after the things they went through to get there. This is a book that I won’t hesitate to recommend. Walker Williams has given another outstanding audio performance of Janice Jarrell’s wonderful book.

Fantastic!

Folks, tissues are in order here! What a heartbreaking story. Jeff is really struggling with Adam's loss and letting someone into his life. But Trent is not only persistent, he is also very loving. And just when things are going right for the two of them, something unexpected happens that puts their relationship to the test.
I was very happy to have a reunion with Colin and Josh!
The story entertained me well, there were very sad parts, then again happy and heartwarming moments and of course romance! I was captivated from the beginning.

Walker Williams did a fantastic job narrating, it was a pleasure to listen to him. He always hit the right tone of each situation and portrayed all the emotions very well.
Highly recommended!
