Dr. McAvoy‘s account was so touching and personal… It was triggering to me, but also cleansing, and it’s raw honesty and transparency affirmed me as I continue to work through the shame of being duped by my own “Caesar”… I hate him for you, Dr. McAvoy…but I understand, first hand from my own abusive situation… Why it took so long for you to make the choice to take the steps to get out of your abusive situation. Outsiders don’t always understand what we go through… the mind games, the conditioning, how they prey upon our vulnerabilities… And the way you explained how we are trapped and bonded to these abusers… you made me feel validated and whole again.
