Great Characters

Great action
Good character development. This whole series feels like “Soldier” the movie continuation in the best way possible.

Balanced story telling.
A well grounded novel, the charictors aren't deep, but the action is up there. The unseen " firsts" are true boogymen alians of the first water. The natives of the world humans want to settle have been crushed into two types. The brain slaves to "the first," and scattered tribes of resisters on the woods.

Good Not Great
The writer has good books, not great, with a great narrator. I turned to him when theres no new sci-fi that interest me.
