Lomäus Barthaar ist eine ganz besondere Maus. Er wohnt im Mäusedorf Maushausen, im Zirbenwald, in eine runden, bunten Häuschen, seinem "Mausoleum", das eine Kokosnuss als Dach hat und einen bunten schiefen Regenbogenzaun drum herum. Sein bester Freund ist der Wanderigel Lothar Stachelbart. All das findet der Mäusemeister des Dorfes sehr merkwürdig und gar nicht in Ordnung. Das und vor allem - Lomäus unendlich langes Barthaar. Das ist nämlich das längste Mäusebarthaar der Welt. So lang wie zehn Mäusekinder hintereinander! Und eines Tages muss auch der Mäusemeister erkennen, dass es manchmal ganz gut ist, wenn eine Maus nicht so ist wie alle anderen!
