I’m delightfully teary!!!

Valentine Sherwood … She’s put her life on hold … Taking care of her infirm mother has taken its toll. When trouble enters her life in the form of a mysterious, rakish, “One Eyed Jack”, can Valentine take the risk and start living for HER again? The writing is beautiful, the pace perfect, the angst … ohhh the ANGST… deliciously had me on the very EDGE, thirsting for resolution! I was soooo heavily invested … caring about Valentine, her friends, her mother … caring AND feeling about these characters I’d come to see as REAL! I loved every minute of this delightfully different, beautifully unpredictable and empowering story! The narration bringing these brilliant characters, these unforgettable scenes to life, is clear, emotive, silky smooth and fabulous! I felt EVERYTHING, as I sat crying, grinning, and fist pumping whilst the author’s far reaching vision came beautifully and brilliantly alive! Five stunning stars across all categories!

Small town romance

I enjoyed this small town romance. I was a bit confused by the ages of the characters. I went in expecting older characters based on my interpretation of the synopsis. Once I got past that, I really liked the story.

Both the author and the narrator are new to me but I'll definitely look for more work by both.

Loved It, Despite One Small Issue

Small spoiler included – This was an enjoyable listen from start to finish, with just one part that didn’t quite work for me. The female character made a choice that felt a bit frustrating, but I don’t want to give too much away! Slight spoiler – Her reason for not speaking to him seemed a little over the top, but overall, I loved about 95% of the story, and it was still a five-star read for me. The narration was absolutely perfect—definitely five stars for that!

Quirky Mismatched Lovers Against the World

The story sounded as if this should immediately be made into a Netflix show. Interesting characters and perfectly paced.
The narrator was great. Every character was well defined and she brought just the right amount of angst to the main character's voice through her dilemmas. She blended into the story effortlessly - perfection and a boon to the story.
