I learned a lot!

This book (audiobook) was well put together, easy to follow, and had great lessons throughout the book. It is taught in a very simple way that's easy to understand, which is important because learning another language can be challenging by itself. This is a very useful course, and I like the fact that I can listen to it while walking or in the car. The frequent repetition is very helpful, as that's how I learn.

Perfect for Building Confidence in Spanish

I’ve been working on improving my Spanish, and this bundle has been a huge help. The lessons are well-structured and really build on what you’ve learned, without overwhelming you. I found the conversational style especially helpful for boosting my confidence in real-life situations. It’s a solid step up from beginner-level material, though if you’re already quite advanced, it might feel a bit slow. I’d give it 4 stars for being practical and easy to follow!

Don't trust the bot reviews, this is NOT for you

First of all, what the hell is with the reviews for this "new" release? Starts with "I recently purchased this"... and it clearly says "product received for free". If that wasn't enough, the reviewers have those blank template reviews in other titles as well. Audible, get your house in order m'dudes, your customer support is great, the QC of products the customers are supposed to get not as much. This is absolutely entering scam territory. Also, this is by no way "5 star all around" product, and I'll happily go into detail to explain why.

First of all, this book is not exactly encroaching "snake oil" territory in that it at least lives up to the premise of having intermediate content inside. It starts off by throwing you into compounding infinitives with indirect and direct object pronouns as a first lesson, it continues with practices of imperfect and preterite tense, etc. The problem? It doesn't explain how *any* of that happens, no grammar whatsoever. The previous book (in its revised state from 2023, for beginners, I cannot even dream what trash garbage the original was) has really good grammar breakdowns and makes it easy to understand what you will be practicing and how it is used, nothing like this here. I personally get *some* value from it, but I have a very specific background - I finished A1 level having started in an actual class, then continued and finished two self-study textbooks with grammar up to B2, so I can understand why something is happening and there is some value for me to practice it. The average person who purchases this title won't.

Let me stress this: the previous book at its level doesn't prepare you in *any way or form* to start this book. There is no supplementary book that does that (I have checked out Patrick Jackson's other Spanish learning books, and the mainline is the best his cursed IP has to over, trust me). This is not a language teaching book, it's a language practicing book, at best skill-reaffirming book. At B1 level you cannot just "puzzle out" grammar by stuttering after the narrators. If you only had the previous book and bought this, it would just make you feel stupid and confused; the previous book actually teaches you something. I don't personally love feeling like that in my free time, do you?

Now, a couple of words for this release - I actually had (and was listening in dismay to how bad it is) to a previous edition of this book, "Learn Spanish Like Crazy - Intermediate" something something. I thought "wait, this can't be it, the first book was so much better". I went into Audible, saw the previous version is removed for this new release, and I was like "Cool, probably corrected their errors like in the first book, and there is something with proper grammar lessons, I can use some of that, a verbal medium should help me memorize a lot of it better". Lo and behold, it's the exact same core as the last one, the extra 1 hour runtime is a bunch of "bonus" garbage taken from one of the side books, which you're better off without and which don't even match the current level. How is this even allowed? It must be just done to get a "new release" rating and a bunch of easy 5 star bot reviews, isn't it? There is no actual change to the core product, no improvement of any sort. It's utterly flabbergasting.
