Dans ce troisième et dernier volet de La Malédiction de l'anneau, saga Fantasy s'inspirant de la mythologie et des légendes nordiques, Siegfried absorbe un philtre d'oubli concocté par la princesse burgonde Kriemhilde, violant ainsi les serments d'amour et de fidélité qui le lient à la Walkyrie Brunehilde. Les deux rivales s'affrontent au milieu des intrigues de cour, tandis qu'Attila et ses Huns envahissent le royaume des Burgondes et que le palais céleste d'Asgard s'embrase...
Siegfried a éveillé la Walkyrie Brunehilde du long sommeil dans lequel l'avait plongée son père Odin. Ils se jurent un amour fidèle et éternel, et Siegfried part rejoindre le royaume des Burgondes pour y préparer son union future. Mais la princesse Kriemhilde lui fait absorber un philtre d'amour et d'oubli. Siegfried perd la mémoire, oublie Brunehilde et épouse Kriemhilde.
Attila et ses Huns s'apprêtent à envahir le royaume des Burgondes afin d'en enlever les femmes dont ils sont privés dans leurs terres hostiles du Hunaland.
Dans le ciel d'Asgard, les dieux, privés des pommes d'éternelle jouvence de Freya, dépérissent et sombrent dans le brasier où les précipitent leurs ennemis de toujours, les Géants, les Nibelungen et les créatures de feu de Muspell. C'est le crépuscule des dieux, la catastrophe finale. La terre de Midgard est dévastée par l'incendie et le déluge.
Né en 1954, Édouard Brasey est à la fois un romancier et un spécialiste réputé des contes, des légendes celtiques et nordiques et des univers imaginaires de la féerie et de la Fantasy, auxquels il a consacré plus de cinquante ouvrages.
Sa très remarquée Petite Encyclopédie du merveilleux (Le Pré aux Clercs) a été récompensée en 2006 par le prix spécial du jury du festival Imaginales d'Épinal et par le prix Claude-Seignolle de l'imagerie.
La Malédiction de l'anneau, saga romanesque en trois tomes dont le premier volet, Les Chants de la Walkyrie, a été récompensé par le Prix Merlin 2009, associe les thèmes de la Fantasy et des mythologies anciennes. Édouard Brasey dirige également les collections Fantasy au Pré aux Clercs.
