WINNER OF THE 2022 BEST INDIE CHOICE AWARD from Quill Hawk Publishing!

Landon Griffin has everything going for him. He's a high school senior on the brink of receiving a football scholarship, his dad is running for mayor of Madison, Texas, and his future with his girlfriend looks bright. But his simple life shatters when feelings spark for a guy he's never met. Giving the stranger the codename Mystery Boy, Landon hesitates to step out of his comfort zone to solve the mystery. Living in a conservative town, he struggles to hide his new obsession while trying to figure out where he fits within the spectrum of sexuality. Can he dodge the constant questions from his friends and find answers before the escalating anxiety becomes too much to handle? Land On Me is Matthew R. Corr's debut novel, perfect for fans of Netflix's Outer Banks and 13 Reasons Why.

Contains mature themes.

The reader. Voiced by author !!!

Excellent book. Even better Audible. I can’t stop listening. My daily drive took a long detour during a snowstorm today…no regrets…I had this book.

This seemed like an unpolished work

The author used a lot of lengthy flashbacks to build his characters. Leaning so heavily on this device and doing so repeatedly became bothersome, like a five-minute commercial break during a TV show. Just forget the plot -- if there was a plot -- and pay attention to this tertiary information. It got to the point that when another flashback would start I'd think to myself, "Oh, no! Not another one!" The author's tortuous storytelling also presented itself in many dramatic episodes concluding with the main character waking up and realizing it was only a dream. Very junior high school-ish. Then there was the author's use of foreshadowing so heavy-handed that it was obvious when, where and why the story was going to turn. Foreshadowing is fun. So are canards to keep the reader guessing where the story might go. But there was no mystery in this title. The author made it plainly obvious where he was taking the story. Finally, and perhaps the writer's worst sin, was how contrived so many of the scenes were. Having the characters act like no human ever would seemed to be the author's only way of putting the characters in a conflict they would then have to work out of. Or just ignore until the next dream sequence, flashback or obvious foreshadowing. Basically this book was awful. I'm giving it two stars instead of one because I actually made it to the end. So it must have had something going for it.
