Karson is restless. It has been some time since he has been called upon to solve a crime. As he suffocates in the boredom of day-to-day living, a letter delivered to his door brings news of new case. A young man has been arrested, accused of a murder for which his wife, Abigail, believes he is innocent. She pleads with Karson to come and help Jonathon, her husband, clear himself of these charges.
Karson takes up the challenge, which involves determining whether Jonathon is actually innocent and then, if so, finding the guilty party with very little evidence to go on.
