Brilliant!
One of the freshest Sci-Fi stories to come out the last few decades. It is an original concept that kept me guessing throughout the story. One of the best in my collection now.
Hope Mr. Gould writes some more.

Well worth the listen.
loved this book from when I was younger and was psyched when they said they were making a movie out of it years later. they completely butchered the book by changing 90% of the story. Now that I've went through the story again 16 years after the first time reading it I'm once again angry at how they totally screwed up a fun and clever story.

Very Good Book, Great Performance
I really like the book. There are a few problems with it. Not really a happy story, but still good. The person reading it did a fantastic job.

Soooooo much better than that crap movie they made
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Definitely. Its got some heavy duty emotional stuff in there. It has a love story for someone looking for that. Its got action and adventure. Its just a fun book.

The movie they made of this book is a travesty. I will say this though, in the follow up books in the series when the focus changes to someone else's perspective. Well all I will say is I liked Davy's storyline much more. But.....I did enjoy the rest of the story and conclusions of it.

much better than expected!
I was expecting something like the movie, but the main character was far more nuanced and likeable, with a great job of showing personal growth and an almost superhero development arc. While some characters were a little one-dimensional it still managed to strike a great balance between a coming of age tale and a fantasy novel.
The narration was engaging and kept in pace with the characters growth. All in all, very pleased and eagerly waiting to listen to the sequel.

Much more enjoyable than the movie
Great story. The main character, Davy, had do much more depth. I found him both emotIonally complex yet believable.
