The author does a very good job of pulling from the four Gospels a compelling story of the life of Jesus. The narrator is good also.

Comforting
I don't know why I find this book comforting to listen to but I do. This retelling of the story of Jesus is familiar and yet the contemporary language makes it easier on the ear than most Gospel translations. Then there's the incomparable voice of John McDonough, which is a comfort in itself and creates a feeling that is unexplainable, wonderful, and maybe mystical.

Peaceful listening
I have listened to this many times, especially when I’m having trouble sleeping. A favorite reading of Scripture, for sure.
