Acerca de esta escucha
The US Ironman Championship Triathlon compelled me to provide details of a year in training, various races, and a wealth of stories. A timeline of events using provocative, innovative, and explorative methods and short stories are at your fingertips. I hope to inform, motivate, and inspire anyone that wishes to follow a similar path. You will enjoy heart-felt dedications, tributes, and stories in an unyielding, honest, open, and courageous way with a willingness to share my heart and soul so that others may benefit from my strengths as well as learn from my shortcomings. The Ironman Triathlon continues to provide me with an instrument in which I seek my greatest challenges, but, more importantly, allows me to continue to explore, create, share, and experience life in a way that is filled with joy, love, peace, and happiness for all and affords me the opportunity at the end of the day to "bring it on home".

As interesting as reading someone's Strava entries
I had high hopes for this book. I thought it would document how he got to the championships, trials, lessons learned, etc. Nope. He basically dictates his Strava entries: "I did a trifecta of 20 miles run, 75 miles bike, 30 minutes of swimming and was worried that it would affect my vacation to St. Lucia ..... we arrived on vacation and I did a 40 mile run and 3 mile swim in an hour .... we returned home and I had to deal with private things I do not want to discuss ... the next day I did a 44 mile bike ride and got 5 flats .... " Pretty boring. In between that, he gets preachy about how blessed he is by God. Great that you have a relationship with God but could you leave that for the religious books?
To summarize - he was a really good athlete to begin with. He talks about doing a 30 mile run at 7:30 pace like no big deal. I have a few hours left and am wondering if at any point, he deals with adversity, injuries, etc.
I will probably return this book because it is so boring. I've only done that once before in all the years I've had Audible and that says a lot.

Great read!
As a triathlete and Ironman, I love this book. It uses his Garmin notes to paint a story to the training that was actually done. The perspective is unique and I love it. It makes you feel like you're training right alongside James. I flew through the book and loved every second of it.
It's not a training book or how-to, it's a story of one man's journey into a big race, and you go along for the ride!
