Conley Hawkins left her family’s small town newspaper, The Silver Bay Beacon, in the rearview mirror years ago. Now a star reporter for a big-city paper, Conley is exactly where she wants to be and is about to take a fancy new position in Washington, DC. Or so she thinks. When the new job goes up in smoke, Conley finds herself right back where she started, working for her sister, who is trying to keep The Silver Bay Beacon afloat - and she doesn’t exactly have warm feelings for Conley. The readers voice.
I love the backstory of the house mouse. The characterization of the Easter rook sisters. I like the series very much and wish she would start anoter like it.

Out of the park!
This one had us guessing until the very end! The author and narrator have these characters down. The "bit" characters all get their moments to shine and bring a distinctive flavor to the story.
And Edna....what would we do without you.

Very Good
I have never read a Kathy Hogan Trocheck novel in the past and only picked it up because I need a book with shamrocks on the cover, so thank you!
I found the book very interesting. I had no idea I was going to read a mystery, which kept you going until the end. (I’m very happy it wasn’t a romance). Trocheck has very sweet and endearing characters and I can see why there is a series. I’m not much into mysteries either, but the characters alone may get me to pick up another one of her novels.

Callahan Garritty's Best (and Saddest) Mystery
Our Head House Mouse & Detective returns for one final book. Of all of the Callahan Garritty Series, this book is the most robust.
There will be NO SPOILERS in this review
Perhaps because the mystery at hand and the subsequent investigation are personal for her this time, the storyline & sub plots seem far more robust and gripping than any of the previous books. It's a grand way (if not bittersweet ) to bid farewell to our heroine. A must read for sure.

Irish Eyes
This has been my favorite Callahan Garrity and House Mouse book. I really hope Mary Kay Andrews will write some more of this series. I’m also a big fan of all of her other books. I just re-read/listened to all of these Callahan Garrity books. I truly enjoy all of the situations that Edna, Neeva Jean, Sister and Baby Easterbrooks get into in each book. Hilary Huber has done a great job with the voices as well. Please MKA, write some more of these books as well as your regular books. Super fan here. Terri Kaestner.
