Acerca de esta escucha

Invisible Heroes of World War II documents 10 fascinating true stories of a diverse group of soldiers and noncombatants from all over the world, including African Americans, women, and Native Americans, who fought with the Allies during World War II. These heroes made significant contributions in the war effort, and sometimes gave their lives for freedom and liberty, often without much recognition or fanfare. Some were frontline soldiers who were captured by the enemy and endured horrific conditions as POWs, others were ordinary citizens who fought in the French Resistance and provided vital operations to undermine Nazi occupation, while others were engineers, workers in industry, or war correspondents and photographers. All served with valor and distinction as part of the massive Allied forces who fought to free the world from tyranny and oppression.

Very entertaining, moving, and informative. I am sure most have read about the Japanese-American ww2 division, the code talkers, and the Tuskegee airmen, but not people like Veronica Foster. Well worth the listen.

World War II had so many invisible hero’s. It was nice to learn about a few and get a personal glimpse about them! May this audiobook inspire many to rise above where they currently are!

This reading gave a very good overview of nontraditional service members. It would be good for someone who is starting out looking to further their knowledge of this. In history. There are several other excellent books such as honor before glory of the Hawaiian regiment that he speaks of. As well as the Navajo code talker‘s. Well worth a listen

Lots of good stories of unsung hero’s, but like all ww2 era books, it makes you want to snuff a jerry and a nip

I hope Mr Borrowman might consider writing part 2. I imagine there are many more invisible heroes that need a voice. I loved the arrangement of the book, each chapter is an independent story of an unsung hero or group. I am a huge WWII buff, yet I never heard of several of the individuals highlighted in this book. I would like to point out that the U.S. Navy Seabees could be included in the combat engineers chapter. Admiral Ben Morrell created the Seabees in December 1942 to "Build and Fight" in the Pacific.

Great stories!

It was nice to read about many courageous individuals and groups of people who were/are often overlooked when talking about wartime heroes.

Marvelous stories

Not a great book, pretty boring and the narrator wasnt interesting. I love war books and history. Just not enough detail and the stories are too short to get into the grit of it. almost like having a textbook being read to you.
