Autor Matthew Reilly wurde 1974 in Sydney, Australien, als Kind von Theaterschauspielern geboren. Bereits mit 19 Jahren schrieb er seinen ersten Roman, jedoch erhielt er von Verlagen nur Absagen. Deswegen ließ er 1000 Hardcover drucken und ging selbst bei Buchläden vorbei. Dadurch erregte er die Aufmerksamkeit vom Verlag Pan Macmillan, der Reilly unter Vertrag nahm. Sein nächster Roman "Ice Station" wurde bereits zum Bestseller und heute sind seine Thriller in 20 Sprachen übersetzt und mehrere Millionen Mal verkauft worden. Heute lebt und arbeitet Reilly in den USA.
