Lido (Lee) Anthony Iacocca, 1924 als Sohn italienischer Einwanderer in Allentown, Pennsylvania, geboren, trat im Alter von 22 Jahren nach seinem Ingenieurstudium bei Ford ein. Hier vollzog sich in rascher Folge seine Traumkarriere bis zum Präsidenten dieser Gesellschaft. 1978 wurde er aus persönlichen Gründen von Henry Ford II. gefeuert, vom konkursreifen Chrysler-Konzern, dem drittgrößten Automobilunternehmen der USA, engagiert. Er übernahm die mit 3,5 Milliarden Dollar hoffnungslos verschuldete Firma, die unter seiner Leitung so viel wie noch nie in ihrer Firmengeschichte verdiente.
Mehr als nur ein erfolgreicher Wirtschaftsboss war Iacocca ein kluger politischer Kopf, der laut amerikanischen Meinungsumfragen gute Chancen hatte, 1988 Präsident der USA zu werden. Lee Iacocca ist am 2. Juli 2019 im Alter von 94 Jahren gestorben. In seiner Autobiographie tauchen wir tief ein in sein Leben, und erfahren:
