Stephen Hope’s mother was arrested and sent to prison in 2005 for selling meth to an undercover cop. She had been dealing it out of the family’s small, cookie-cutter home in Henderson, Kentucky, for years, cooking it in an eight-by-ten-foot shed in the backyard.
I Am Hope begins with an honest, no-filter account of Stephen’s life behind those dark, meth-filled walls. Even as his brother was ripped from their home, Stephen was left behind, forced to live in a neglectful home—one of the many prices he paid for his mother’s addiction.
Then, several freak accidents helped him change his perspective, channeling his drive toward something more.

From the Heart
Although the print edition states this is a work of fiction, it’s clear the author lived through these nightmares and by his incredible strength of character and sheer determination triumphed over a a childhood of neglect and abuse because of his mother’s drug addiction. This is an honest, from-the-heart memoir of transformation.
