Twelve years after moving West to New Mexico Jeb Hutchinson learns his parents have been lost at sea. When he returns to Philadelphia to settle the estate, he learns his parents were wealthy, and he has become sole heir of a small fortune. He was warned, however, that there would be unscrupulous people who would like to get their hands on his newly acquired wealth, including his long-lost brother who had estranged himself from the family years earlier. On his way back to New Mexico he meets a beautiful young woman of Spanish heritage and is delighted to learn she lives, a mere hundred miles away from him. Returning to the ranch he finds that the two new hired hands have cleaned him out and disappeared with all of his livestock. Eventually Jeb’s brother comes after him with a group of hired killers. They have their hands full, however as Jeb smartly uses his survival skills to stay one step ahead of them, even poking fun at them at times. During the chase, and unknown to Jeb, his girl, Bella is involved in a riding accident, loses her memory and ends up in Santa Fe, not knowing who she is. Will Jeb be able to escape from his followers and find his fiancé? Will he be able to retain his new fortune, or will someone else manage to get their hands on it?
