Purgatory (Latin "purgare", to make clean, to purify), in accordance with Catholic teaching, is a place or condition of temporal punishment for those who, departing this life in God's grace, are not entirely free from venial faults, or have not fully paid the satisfaction due to their transgressions. The whole penitential system of the Church testifies that the voluntary assumption of penitential works has always been part of true repentance. The councils of the Church remind the faithful that God does not always remit the whole punishment due to sin together with the guilt.

Who Knew?
Only the prayers of the living and the mercy of God can lift tormented souls out of purgatory. No names please the darkness obscures their identity. Offer your prayers to God on this very sad subject. And of course be Saintly.

what you probably didn't know about purgatory
I wish all would read this in- as we will all one day pass on -this was a refreshing and eye opening book about souls that haven't quite made it to Heaven and are stuck in Purgatory. it was also informative on how to help these souls move on and also how they can help us, especially if we have helped them. No prayer goes to waste.
