Acerca de esta escucha
With childlilke boldness and profound logic, Martin Zender exposes the spiritual bankruptcy of the religious institution. Zender's mastery of satire separates him from the pious; his Scriptural expertise launches him as the primary spokesman for those who desire God, but don't trust the establishments that boast His name.
"This book describes the joy and freedom you will experience by quitting organized religion. By necessity, it must expose the world’s most popular religion, and the hypocrisies that poison it. The way I see it, no one can properly enjoy God from the perspective of an institution. But who will quit the institution if they think that everything is “just fine” there? But nothing is “just fine” there, not even close. So I sound the call to freedom. I do this, not by promoting my own authority or instructing you from my podium (the method of most “how-to” authors), but by pointing out the spiders on the institution walls and demonstrating how green (and pest-free) is the grass on the other side.
I believe one of the main reasons the world rejects Jesus Christ is that it thinks He’s a member of the religion bearing His name. If only the world realized how much Jesus hates hypocrisy, ice-cream socials, and repetitive worship songs, they would depart without compunction. I saw a bumper sticker recently that said, “I have no problem with God, it’s His fan club I can’t stand.”
Millions of church people today secretly want to quit church, but they balk because they think that if they quit church, they’ll be quitting God. No. God and His Son quit organized religion years ago, and haven’t been back. (Well, they never were members in the first place.) And would you believe me if I told you that not one person in the Bible ever “went to church”? The church is people, not an address on Main Street. One does not go to it, one is it.
Do you go to church every week? Then this book will challenge you. Have you walked away from organized religion? Then this book will comfort you. Have you avoided religion all your life?
You may be a spiritual genius." - Martin Zender

Paul’s 13 letters are a radical departure from the rest of Scripture, including Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The only place in the Bible where you will find details concerning God’s remedy for restoring the heavens is in the 13 letters of Paul. The only place in Scripture where you will find law tossed out the window is in the 13 letters of Paul. The only books in the entire Bible dealing with the special salvation of gentiles (non-Israelites), who sin as a vocation and have never even heard of Moses, are the 13 letters of Paul.

As indicated by the title, this book presents a very critical look at the doctrine of Hell, which is rarely criticized within Christendom today. In the scriptures, there is no mention of "eternal torment" in the Old Testament, and in the Greek scriptures (the NT), there are three words translated to "hell": Gehenna, Hades, and Tartarus, none of which have anything to do with eternal torment. My objective is to guide you into the knowledge that the doctrine of hell is unbiblical and extremely harmful to those who hold to it.

If prayer changed things, we'd all be in trouble. Imagine eight billion people storming heaven simultaneously. Imagine God throwing His papers all around and wondering what to do, who to answer. Imagine God finally plugging His ears and grinding His pearly white teeth in holy exasperation. This is a worse case scenario than if God just ignored us all and continues with His plan, which He came up with quite a long time ago when everything was calm and peaceful and humanity had not been invented.

We are clay pots by design, not because we have gone afoul of God's intention for us. Wouldn't some of us love to shed our earthenware now and still walk among mortals? Our sins keep us from a perfect walk, and we mourn this. We do not yet understand, of course, that an imperfect walk is the main idea of this life. God puts the treasure of his spirit in earthen vessels now to keep the vessels from situating themselves upon high places. Humility is a blessed thing. Mistakes remind us of our clayhood and drive us toward Christ.

Millions of Christians have struggled with how to reconcile God's love and God's judgment: Has God created billions of people over thousands of years only to select a few to go to heaven and everyone else to suffer forever in hell? Is this acceptable to God? How is this "good news"? Author, pastor, and innovative teacher Rob Bell presents a deeply biblical vision for rediscovering a richer, grander, truer, and more spiritually satisfying way of understanding heaven, hell, God, Jesus, salvation, and repentance.

Christianity has captivated the world for more than 2,000 years. Look a little closer, and you'll see that it is the most dangerous and exciting thing on earth. Catholicism is a game changer. This book looks at the big picture of who God is, what he has revealed to us, and how that will radically impact our lives if we let it.

Historia
The Son of God was crucified, died and buried, and He lay in the tomb for three days—until He walked out shining like the sun. In a culture in which history is erased or rewritten at will, the existence of an empty tomb matters. Why? Because if the tomb is empty—then anything is possible. Joby Martin dives deep into scripture and traces the story of salvation by highlighting the seven mountains throughout scripture where God manifests himself. As he describes each encounter with God, Martin shows us how the interaction on each mountain laid the groundwork for Christ's sacrifice.

We’ve all seen the memes that populate the internet: live your truth, follow your heart, you only have one life to live. They sound nice and positive. But what if these slogans are actually lies that unhinge us from reality and leave us anxious and exhausted? Another Gospel? author Alisa Childers invites you to examine modern lies that are disguised as truths in today’s culture. Everyday messages of peace, fulfillment, and empowerment swirl around social media. On the surface, they seem like sentiments of freedom and hope, but in reality, they are deeply deceptive.

Surrounded by fellow alcoholics, depressives, and cynics, she realized: These were her people. Maybe she was meant to be their pastor. Using life stories, Nadia uses humorous narrative and poignant honesty to portray a woman who is both deeply faithful and deeply flawed, giving hope to the rest of us along the way.

Gripped by the tale of a Messiah whose blood we drink and body we eat, the genre-defying author Emmanuel Carrère revisits the story of the early Church in his latest work. With an idiosyncratic and at times iconoclastic take on the charms and foibles of the Church fathers, Carrère ferries listeners through his "doors" into the biblical narrative. Once inside, he follows the ragtag group of early Christians through the tumultuous days of the faith's founding.

Historia
Grace or truth…or both? Truth without grace breeds self-righteousness and crushing legalism. Grace without truth breeds deception and moral compromise. Is it possible to embrace both in balance? Jesus did. Randy Alcorn offers a simple yet profound two-point checklist of Christlikeness. “In the end,” says Alcorn, “we don’t need grace or truth. We need grace and truth. And for people to see Jesus in us, they must see both.”

In our age when the church can too often seem like a poor copy of the world, Chad Bird challenges us to reclaim the astounding originality of our ancient, backward faith. With compelling examples from the Bible and today, Bird paints an enticing picture of the counterintuitive, countercultural life that God wants for us. He helps listeners delight in all of the ways that Jesus turned the world upside down, allowing us to experience true freedom, not from our weaknesses but in the midst of them.

Why does the Bible contain so many stories of hurting people? Though their situations vary, their conditions don't. They have nowhere to turn. Yet before their eyes stands a never-say-die Galilean who majors in stepping in when everyone else steps out. Lucado reminds us that the purpose of these portraits isn't to tell us what Jesus did-but rather to remind us what Jesus still does.

Best-selling author John Ortberg dispels the myth that eternal life is something way out in outer space that we can only hope to experience after we die - and that being saved is merely about meeting the minimal entrance requirements for getting into heaven. Instead, John unpacks the reality that the moment we trust Christ, we are initiated into “eternal living” with God as a here and now reality, one that will continue beyond our life on this earth.

Did Jesus have bad habits? In our culture we have a tendency to describe Jesus in ways that soften his revolutionary edge. Len Sweet uncovers and presents to us the offensive and scandalous Jesus described in the Bible. Did he disappear when people needed him most? Yes. Did he refuse to answer questions directly? Yes. Did Jesus offend the people of his day? Absolutely yes. Popular author and speaker Len Sweet examines the words and actions of Jesus and places them in context.

Frank Schaeffer has a problem with Dawkins, Hitchens, Harris, Dennett, and the rest of the New Atheists—the self-anointed “Brights.” He also has a problem with the Rick Warrens and Tim LaHayes of the world—the religious fundamentalists. The problem is that he doesn’t see much of a difference between the two camps. As Schaeffer puts it, they “often share the same fallacy: truth claims that reek of false certainties.

What does the Bible mean when it says we are to fear God? Is it difficult for you to reconcile the two sides of God’s nature - His wrath and His love? Mattie Montgomery teaches that a right pursuit of the fear, fire, and fullness of God can lead you into the knowledge of a side of God you may never have imagined before. He notes that the fear of God does not mean that we should be afraid of God; but rather, that we should be afraid to be against Him.

Whew, I don’t have to go to church
I’m so glad this book was offered on Audible. I enjoyed this narrator- I thought he conveyed the humor in Martin’s writing and was easy to listen to.
I’ve never liked going to church not because I didn’t believe, but because of the self righteous people there
But aren’t we supposed to go to church? Isn’t that part of being a true Christian? Will I go to hell if I don’t go to church?
This book answers those questions and quotes scripture so you can go do further research on your own if you wish.
